Live updates from Gamers8 final
Two of the very best teams in the world lock horns in Riyadh. Will ENCE or Vitality reign supreme? Follow the live updates in this post to find out.
Dan "apEX" Madesclaire spoke on broadcast after securing the Gamers8 trophy, and he was full of pride for his team's performance. He also spoke about Vitality's status in world Counter-Strike, and he was clear on his thoughts.
“I am gonna say that it’s really rough with such little practice, but we have a fighting team and such a talented team. I feel like even though we were not with flameZ before, the last five tournaments we made four finals, we won three of them, so if we are not the best team in the world, I don’t know who is.”
“I’m really proud of the boys. I can tell you it’s really chaotic and rough for me, but we fight every round.”
Vitality are Gamers8 champions!
Lotan "Spinx" Giladi and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut stood tall on the final map to ensure an easy decider for their team, ENCE will be left ruing their poor start on CT side.
Vitality were poor on Anubis, but they grew into the match as it went on, with ZywOo in particular stepping up to get the heavy lifting done.
Yet another grand final heartbreak for ENCE, they simply can’t beat an elite team in a grand final. Their only grand final win, at Dallas, came against MOUZ.

Álvaro "SunPayus" García is no slouch with an AK, and he showed that perfectly by producing a multi-kill to help grab ENCE their first round of the half.
The problem for ENCE is they couldn’t build upon it, with Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut asserting control as his opponents tried to go down secret in the next round.
Vitality just batted away an upper rush with absurd ease, and they are now within inches of victory.
ENCE clearly had something prepped for their T pistol, but Vitality ripped their heads off before they could really put it into action. Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer did, at least, manage to get the bomb down for his team.
As ENCE nearly always do on T side, they forced up in the second round. It was a complete waste, as four of their members were dead after maybe 15 seconds.
Vitality dealt with the resulting force, and in the first gun round they were also successful, thanks to vital multi-kills from Shahar "flameZ" Shushan and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire in a 3v5 scenario.
ENCE were much improved once they had warmed up, their individuals granting them round wins with big plays, particularly Álvaro "SunPayus" García and Guy "NertZ" Iluz.
Vitality really did wane as the half wore on, they struggled for frags and their reluctance to throw the outside wall of smokes made them easy to read.
Still, a very close half, it’s all there for the taking in the second period.
ENCE started to find their feet on Nuke, thanks in no small part to their individuals firing up. Álvaro "SunPayus" García, Pavle "Maden" Bošković and Paweł "dycha" Dycha have all put in work.
However, when they had a weaker buy facing them, they crumbled. Vitality hit the upper bombsite and blew ENCE away.
Vitality came out all guns blazing on the third map, racing out to a 3-0 lead on their T side in convincing fashion.
The first gun round saw Vitality head down to lower via ramp, and some crisp rifle work from Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut earned them the round win.
The ENCE revival was short-lived, as some stellar work from Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan was enough to get Vitality over the line.
Not the counter-dominance Vitality might have wanted after Anubis, but regardless they have handed ENCE their first map loss of the tournament.
Nuke is up next, with everything on the line.
Álvaro "SunPayus" García really does love playing Vitality, a 4k from the Spaniard nabbed ENCE their second round of the half.
That round allowed ENCE to get their economy under control and start to turn the screw on Vitality, their slick mid-round calling finding the gaps in Vitality’s setups.
A Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut multi-kill did grab his team a round, but ENCE are creeping back into this.
Vitality read ENCE’s pistol round like a book, stacking the B site and preventing the execute with ease.
ENCE opted to force up, but they got nothing done, which allowed Vitality to get themselves to a very comfortable scoreline.
When guns come up, ENCE manage to sneak into the A site to get the bomb down, and they convert the round.
