DDoS attacks continue

New DDoS attacks aimed at the network at IEM4 World Championship has once again kicked in, on the final day of the tournament.

It is not the first time we report about DDoS attacks, as these started already on the very first day of the tournament. Now it’s Saturday and we are down to the final day of the tournament, which will bring us the Grand Final between the defending champions fnatic and Na`Vi.

Shortly before the Grand Final in Quake Like would kick off, new DDoS attacks started hit the network, once again meaning the internet was not usable, also causing our HLTV on the third-place decider match, to disconnect and connect multiple times.

Right now there is no action on the stage, as the Quake Live Grand Final cannot start due to these attacks. This could also very well mean, should the attacks continue, that the Grand Final in Counter-Strike will be delayed.

ESL can't do anything. Dont you understand how a DDos works ? The Internet is not useable, you could higher thousend firewalls, that would only hide them away from the ESL system, but not from the Internet connection,

distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or people to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. (c) :D

ddosing is very anoying, but it can be prevented. obviously they had vulnerable software/applications running on a machine in a particular network. And the idiots who ddos them used security holes to compromise the hosts and the servers and install the DDoS tools

DDoS attacks usually is a criminal activity. none do such hard work to prepare a this kind of attack just for fun or to ruin a competition. usually owners of a zombie pc army (infected pcs) are asking for an exchange from the victim for not doing the attack (like night clubs protection fee to goons). there are many stories even with ebay and other huge networks who are paying fees to e-goons for not being under a ddos attack. such type of attack cant prevented or traced if it is well organized. i'm telling that to you just to know that probably its not some nerdy scripting kinds or esl's falt. usually is more complicated
