Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Opening StageComplexity eliminate Imperial with ease
After a rough day one, Complexity vastly stepped up their game.
Complexity have kept themselves alive at Perfect World Shanghai Major thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win over Imperial, with victories on Inferno (13-4) and Ancient (13-5) sealing the deal.
After struggling badly on the opening day, Complexity showed a much better face against Imperial. Their individuals stepped up in particular, with Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli and Ricky "floppy" Kemery joining Michael "Grim" Wince and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski in winning duels and providing impact.
"I'm happy that we're showing up a lot stronger. I wish that it didn't take until us being almost eliminated," EliGE said to HLTV after his team's victory.
Imperial offered little resistance it must be said, with only Lucas "decenty" Bacelar providing more than 20 kills across the two maps. The Brazilians were woeful in post-plants on Inferno, losing to bomb defusals six times on their T side, and capitulated to dry contact plays time and time again on their Ancient defense.
Complexity still have a long road ahead of them to qualify for the next stage, but on today's evidence, it is a road they are capable of navigating. The inconsistency of all but EliGE will still be a concern, but for a team who are often fragile mentally, the confidence a win like today's will give is a significant boon.
