PGL Bucharest 2025G2 grab playoff berth over Complexity
In what may be m0NESY's last tournament with G2, they have secured a spot in the playoffs.
G2 have earned a playoff spot at PGL Bucharest with a 2-1 victory over Complexity, taking wins on Dust2 (16-12) and Ancient (13-10) either side of a loss on Anubis (10-13).
Dust2 seemed it would be smooth sailing for G2 after they stormed to a 10-2 lead off the back of a superlative Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko T-side performance, but Complexity recovered on their own offensive effort to send the map to OT.
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov then stepped up in overtime, locking down a three-round CT half that ensured G2 took their map pick.
G2 came up against a man possessed on Anubis, namely Michael "Grim" Wince. The NA rifler was a menace on both halves of the map, limiting G2 to six on their offensive effort to allow for a relatively comfortable win.
Ancient was relatively straightforward for G2 after a slow start. Complexity bagged their CT pistol and ran out to a 5-0 lead before G2 put their foot on the gas, abusing thin setups on the B bombsite to reverse the score to 7-5.
G2 carried that momentum into the second half, eventually racking their streak of round wins up 12 in a row to get to series point. Complexity showed some resilience, fighting back to put G2 under pressure, but they were in too deep of a hole to climb out of.
G2's Last Dance heads to the playoffs
It's all but confirmed that m0NESY will be departing G2 for Falcons after this event. Whilst Falcons have suffered the dead team debuff, G2 have conversely sought to give m0NESY a memorable send-off.
For the first time in a long time, all of G2 seem to be firing on all cylinders. m0NESY is the top-rated player at the event, HeavyGod is up above 1.20, and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač and Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa are providing big maps when needed. Who knows how far G2 can take this run if they stay in form.
