FX decline ESWC invite

Frag eXecutors have turned down the invite to attend the Electronic Sports World Cup finals.

The ESWC announced last week the names of five teams that have been directly invited for this year's World Finals in Paris and won't require, as such, to enter their respective national qualifiers.

Frag eXecutors, who won the last edition of the tournament under Meet Your Makers, are one of the five invited sides, along with fnatic, SK Gaming, mousesports and Lions eSportsKlubb.

However, the former MYM team have declined the invite, and will instead participate in the Polish qualifying process.

"We are a Polish team and we have to appear on the most important domestic tournaments", team manager Adrian "Ziggy" Witkowski told the team's website. "We feel obliged to take part in them for our fans, the media and also teams' sponsors."

Despite the fact that FX wanted to attend the Polish qualifier while keeping their invite, this way giving up their prize in case of a win in the tournament, the ESWC rules meant that they had to choose between the auto-berth and competing in the qualifier.

This decision leaves the ESWC with one slot to fill, with a likely candidate being WeMade FOX, who placed second in 2008 under e-STRO.

That's not weird, that was expected, because if they qualify ESWC will pay for their trip to Paris. Otherwise if they had accepted invitation they would have to pay for themselves.

OMFG EPIC FACEPALM... "they aren't NOT attending eswc, they're just taking a different route in getting there." IT MEANS - THEY AREN'T GOING TO MISS THE ESWC IT SELF ONLY BECAUSE OF REFUSING THE INVITE, THEY WANT TO RECEIVE THEIR SPOT IN THE TOURNAMENT BY QUALIFYING! Fucking dumb ass shit.

Bigger teams = more coverage for tournaments. They want more media coverage of the Polish qualifier, which will just be another small local tournament without any international powerhouses like FX attending. Seems like they're trying to keep the Polish community involved...

Good choice. And even more I agree with this decision when I read most of raged crybabies comments agaist Fx from people involved with Polish other organisations who can't take another ass whooping and think only about themself. By saving money Neo&co can attend another international tournament (plus Poland ESWC qualification). Fans should be happy about that instead of throwing shit on theyr best e-sport representation outside country.

I presume the question pending is if accepting the invite Fx would have to pay the expenses (do not know to what extent) and that the 2nd polish team, winner of the qualifier, would on the other side have their expenses paid. Thus, they prefer to go for the "paid" spot. I do not see quite clear though that the reason given, and it sounds really good to "foreground" the importance the Polish scene has for them, is that do not accept the invite because they want show up for the fans/polish scene in general, that is, and the sponsors. Do they state this in order to not have to say that Fx is not able (or it is too expensive) to "pay" expenses due to the invite? Hope someone can shed some light on this.

They need to travel to Paris on they own. Of course they can use car and waste much of time and be like-a-dead at the event or can take a plane. The plane (not counting 'cheap' airlines) for 6 people (yeah, one extra - TaZ said last time that they were missing someone from orga at the events) it is like about 1.000 EURO. More to read @#56 - just translate of the few polish cs sites.

Read the #56 "The FX sites tells they were". If they are not doing too much marketing these "patriotic" things are going to be true. Really I have no idea when we saw the Fx aka Golden Five playing in PL at some big, well organised event :-)

Sure I read your message but in the end all would be the same, if as in most cases 1st get slot and expenses paid and 2nd slot. But in the end, it is attending the qualifer to state, instead of the "patriotic" thing, we are here for the paid expenses and as we already have an invite we do not need "another" slot. Which would be in the end, what happens with qualifiers with two spots (see above). And as I stated, why not just say, 'Hey, thanks for the invite but as we can not pay the expenses we prefer to go through the qualifier - this way, we will also show up locally for our fans, etc.' - You notice the difference? ;)

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. You dont know the term trolling it seems. It's not my primary intempt to provoke anyone. If, say SK, would drop their invite just to play the national ESWC qual just for "fans and media" I'd also call that a stupid ass decision and egoistic, because it is. I'm not sure wether you troll me or not, cus you're always off-topic and irrational like fuck. I don't even know why I reply to someone who's calling himself "badazz" and who is looking like the tiny little faggot he is. get shit on stupid nerd

The main thing i compare with trolls is that they try so hard to insult other people over the internetz. No further content needed, just look at your posts above :) - Maybe it's not your main objective, but the way you do it is so pathetic.

$$$. No point to waste money when they can have paid trip + paid expenses. The invite only gave them paid hotels. A good organization is one which spends its money wisely, not necessarily has a lot of money. Look at CGS. Tons of money and look where it got them. you think the top orgs spends tons of money when they can spend less? no. they save wherever possible.

Unlike sponsors from teams like SK and fnatic, FX's sponsors maybe aren't giving money for international events but rather for domestic tournaments if they are based in Poland. So I guess the most important thing for the players under FX will be to always attend domestic tournaments and win them without a doubt :)

BUDGET Why they would spend money on trip that they would and will get for winning qualification tournament in Poland? What great invite is that anyway, when they have to cover expenses in order to get it. FFS, they didn't even receive money from last ESWC! Sponsors has nothing... wait! They actually has something to say about it. They want to see players who they pay $$$ as often in competitions with media spotlight as they can, in country, outside country, anywhere, just as much as they can. They have opoturnity to attend more tourneys, by saving money. You call that decision stupid? Think again geniuses.

They're not low on cash. They've already been at a plethora events under the Fx name. Already more than they played under wicked or vitriolic. Fx is putting in tons of money. it's just that - WHY should they waste money even though they can. That's what the CGS did and look where it got them.

Ok, it looks like that: If FX use the invite and go directly to the Finals they need to pay the plane to Paris themselves. If they play the ESWC Poland (and prolly wins) they don't need to pay anything themselves and get local prizes. It's all about cash I guess. Fx it is still (and will be for a long time I guess) poor orga and I think they rather like to spend that if-we-use-invite-plane-tickets-cash to attend other events than 'wasting' it now. The FX sites tells they were planing to play the ESWC Poland from the beginning and (if the win) pass the slot to the ESWC Poland 2nd place team. They also stated that the ESWC Global orga said that it is possible. Later everything changes with the ESWC Poland rulesbook. Also sites tells that they were trying to get some understanding between ESWC Global <-> ESWC Poland <-> FX but it kinda fail. ESWC Poland spokesman wrote at counter-strike.pl that they were trying to fix the arrangement and offers to "pay some part of the tickets cost" or "help finding a sponsor". What really happens there only few people know. Oh and the most important thing: Do NOT blame players for anything related to this situation please. If you want to to blame anyone go for orga, but imho they made a good decision.

Change 'person' in my previous message for 'company' from yours and we are at the same point. They bought most likely the brand and that does not make them responsable for the debts, in my opinion. Similar to what Nomad stated when news about the sale were posted: www.hltv.org/?pageid=18&threadid=24959#r423575

i understand they want to promote polish CS, but wouldnt taking the spot, therefore allowing another Polish CS Team to play International CS do a lot more for the country. Sounds like a massive copout to me. However, i think ESWC didnt think this through, they should of invited less teams but paid for their costs (just like winning). I actually hope it backfires and another Polish CS Team goes, it would be good for their community after all.

I can't actually understand people stating that this movement by Fx would hinder Poland to have two teams at ESWC. Ok, Fx got the invite but if they can not afford the expenses that makes automatically one Polish team less, thus making it again the Qualifier winner the only team attending. Because if two spots are given out the 2nd again has to face the expenses problem which was the problem from the start, at least for Fx.

You can't be serious Jonathan... First of all they heve every right/reason in the world to makes such statemnt/decision. But most of all they've won ESWC and didin't get paid. SO WHAT THERE ARE NEW OWNERS. WHO SAIS THEY WILL PAY UP THIS TIME ? For me this is total absurd. The same brand/logo just forgets about 100 000 or more $$$ because they are NEW owners. And that's it... One big BS for me. In the small cs world that we have, this should never be. And You are just showing that HLTV is the bitch of the system... Instead of beiong true to the idea that if a team wins 100 000 $$$ they need to get this money.. If I was FX I would NEVER trust ESWC. SO for me this is another reason to make such decision. Oh and BTW let the other PL team FINALLY step up and show that they CAN beat fx...

I am sorry to say this but it seems I am more serious than you are. Of course everyone is free to make the statement they prefer but, as I stated in my previous message, it seems this is more about the expenses than to show up for the Polish community. I might be right or I might be wrong but if that is the case the statement had many alternatives to the original one (see #74 for one of these "alternatives"). ESWC new owners do what they consider best for their business. If they do not have to pay out for others why should they? Regarding your doubt if they are going to pay out this time, seems that at least they learned the lesson: www.hltv.org/news/3904-eswc-guarantees-prize-money As for what HLTV (do you refer to HLTV.org?) is or not (according to you 'the bitch of the system') and mixing it with being true to the team having won their prizemoney I think you should sit back, take a deep breath and think again what nonsense you have just posted. I do not think this is about trusting ESWC or not but about the expenses as I have said in my previous messages. It is allright to think about a Polish team having a chance to beat Fx, but what about that same Polish team attending ESWC by the hand of Fx and face World top teams gathering in ESWC?

Ok. Still i think that fx not performing very well at the moment is a team to beat. In other words, if none PL team can come even close to winning at these Polish ESWC finals than they have nothing to lool for in Disneyland. Harsh, but True... I like fx statement bacause they reveal the positive attitude od this team, regardless of Your accusation of 'hipocrisy' of the statement. Last thing to say, I believe HLTV is the last remaining stronghold against such bad occurences as unpaid prizemoney.. There just isin't anytjong else there, except courtrooms.. Anyway, what strikes me as wrong is the whole HLTV acting like it's fine.. ( new owners guys, it's ok ) it makes me mad to see this acceptance and not even a sign of saying thats wrong.. ESWC should be a brand to never exist again. It's just shameful.. And so You can see that hipocrysy exist on Your part as well. In my book, You dont point out fingers if Your hands are dirty as well.. And dont feed me that BS that it's good for esport, or that there are new owners...

First of all, please do not put words in my mouth. Where did I say anything related to hypocrasy? If you refer to my opinion about the statement more than hypocrite you should have considered the of use of 'partial' because not everything is clearly told to the community. Because if I had called them hypocrites I would have implied that they really care a damn about the Polish community, and we both know that that is not the case. I do not know for sure what HLTV.org represents to you as a "stronghold" nor am I the right person you should talk about with regard to it, but bare in mind that this is a coverage site and that news either bad or good are published and that's it. MIRAA, as a journalism student, would be able to explain to you better how news should be dealed with. As to me, I would say as much and clear information as possible and the less personal opinion possible too. Also again, as said, I do not think that if a company is not responsable for pending prizemoney it should pay it anyway. If the new CPL is fake would you consider the former owners responsible because they sold the brand to them? As for me being hypocrite because of being part of the site staff, you are wrong again. And I do not point my fingers at anyone but I wonder to myself about this just like anyone else in this thread. And yes, I think it is good for esports if, as stated, ESWC learned the lesson with the new owners and it goes even better if the rest of the big events act the same.

LOL, Why should FX accept invite, if that means, paying travel on own. For some other team, that will have travel paid from eswc ? Haha, I wanna see WHO would pay travel for other team, joke. If poland wants there second team, they should give money to FX for travel. And winner of qualification should pay on their own. Other point is, playing qualification, should be little bit risky, poland has more good teams, but if they want to sucess on ESWC, they should win at least qualification in own country. Smart move for many reasons.

You guys aren't the smartest bunch :P, least the first few posts (didn't read it all). It's quite obvious that they feel that just accepting the invite for a free pass to ESWC seems a bit "up their own arses", so they would rather go through to fair process of qualifying with everyone else :)
