Solid Mojo fails prize payout

According to eXelon-gaming.net, the organisers of Solid Mojo LAN have announced they will not be able to pay out the tournament winnings.

The LAN event, which took place at Energia-Areena in Vantaa from 14-16 May, played host to the Finnish WCG qualifier, with Playzone coming out on top in a 2-0 win over eXelon.

Solid Mojo LAN organisers had promised that the Counter-Strike: 1.6 competition would feature a total prize purse of €1,750, but it was later changed to €1,400 just two weeks before the event.

However, one of the organisers sent an email last week to all those who had attended the event in which he explained they "did not have enough money to pay out any prizes", and that the maximum they could do was to return the entry fee to the first and second-placed teams.

According to eXelon-gaming.net, the event hosts expected to sell more tickets, with prices set at €45 for a computer seat and €25 for the non-BYOC tournaments.

yeah.. thanks a lot FUCKFACES :) it's nice to travel over 300km to a event and get nothing. this whole fiasko tells a lot about our (finland) esport scene.

Now instead of traveling 300km to win 80€, imagine flying overseas (+15h), winning $50k and never getting paid (MYM @ ESWC 2008) - it's like natu said, how big of a deal can 80-200€ really be? PS. That's the "global" eSports scene

this is so true big event sometimes dont even say why they wont pay, they just sit quiet and here you have got an explanation and if we talk about FX (MYM from 2008), they are supposed to be paid like $110,000 more

yeah, i feel u lurppis. but atleast u get money from playing this whole shit game. and i get that there is lot of teams who didnt get their prizemoney from events like ESWC. in the end, the esports scene is a lot ahead in countries like USA than in Finland.

Agreed, just saying since your post seemed like a fairly pointless rant. Procyon told me the event even made a post on their site a few weeks prior to the event they can no longer guarantee the cash prizes though so if that's true then there shouldn't be any problems really even though it still sucks.

Am I the only one who realises the simple fact that when you budget tournaments by 1000 sold tickets and you end up with only 300 - its common sense that you're screwd, unless someones actually willing to put that money out of their own pocket, which is not happening. Losing 80 or 200 euro isn't the end of the world.

Yeah, but they shouldn't have promised that kind of money before they were sure about getting over 1000 tickets sold. Although the organizers have a lot of experience in holding LAN events, they have never held an event with more than 400 computer places, so it's very optimistic to think they suddenly would attract such masses of people.

Look at past, at big events like ESWC and CPL, which also didnt paid all money yet, Solid Mojo's behaviour is quite okey, cuz they said sorry to players and told why they cant pay. honest is good
