k1ck file ESWC protest

HLTV.org has learned that k1ck eSports Club have handed in an official protest to the ESWC organisation.

The Portuguese team had initially been drawn into Group D, but have been moved to Group F after TyLoo.raw were ruled out of the competition.

The change means that k1ck will now have to lock horns with Natus Vincere and compLexity, with their chances of progression now looking smaller.

k1ck believe the decision is unfair and have called on the ESWC commitee to review the matter.

"We have filed an official complaint to the ESWC organization for this arbitrary decision, as we think that this is not the way to conduct a major event such as this one," a k1ck spokesperson told HLTV.org.

k1ck, who will play with Joel "gax" Meira as a stand-in for Ricardo "fox" Pacheco, won the Portuguese ESWC qualifier after beating exotic 2-0 in the final.

They only have to focus on two teams this way rather than three teams. I think that pretty much makes up for the two days. If that's the best excuse k1ck can come up with, they're not going to see much of a response from ESWC.

That's ESWC's fault for having a dumb three team group system. Everyone knew TyLoo PROBABLY wouldn't attend way before hand. Either way, no point of having a group draw if they're going to move teams randomly.

More like it's the fault of the organizations chosen by ESWC who decided to NOT pay for the teams travel expenses, which is the whole point of holding a qualifier and the reward for finishing first. You can't blame ESWC if teams win a qualifier and decide not to attend or don't get the money they were supposed to. Frankly this is better than if they had 3 groups of 7 and one group of 6 with 4 teams advancing from each group.

Of course you can blame the ESWC. It's their job to find organizations that are reputable and will send teams. ESWC sells the licenses to organizations, with these licenses they are selling the ESWC reputation. It's in their best interest to ensure that these organizations are legitimate. The same thing is in the World Cup right now. Do you think that FIFA pays all the teams trips? No, it's the individual national Federations which send the teams however the reason you don't see teams dropping out is because FIFA does their work and makes sure every Federation is legitimate and imposes sanctions on ones that are not. ESWC is completely to blame for selling the license to a company that didn't get its facts straight.

Another issue. If ESWC continues this practice of selling licenses to anyone who has the money someone could easily fork out the money and send their own team to ESWC. Whoever owns the license owns the right of deciding how the teams will be chosen to attend. Imagine some ESEA open team attending ESWC because they had some famous sports star on their roster who bought out the license. The ESWC MUST start doing their research on who they sell their licenses to.

For what, two days? The groups were just released on Monday. I seriously doubt that this really is affecting their gameplay, also considering that they only have demos and teamplay from two other teams to go over rather than three other teams if they were still in their previous group. I believe that the real problem here is to understand how the organization did to select K1CK to complete the Group F inspite of any other Medium Seeded team. If in the rules there was something like "In case of Group X don't have sufficient teams, the Group nearest of this one with 1 team more than the necessary would be reduced to "-1" and the team who leave those group will play in the group who don't have the necessary number of teams." it could be accepted however i don't think that rule exist. I think that is natural that the team don't like this decision, even more when it was did without any explanation. Let's see what happen, probably nothing, however i am sure that they did the right thing by asking to the organization how they took this decision. Cumps, and GL K1CK :)

They could have put the 4 teams in the 4 groups in a random pool and kick got selected. You guys never know, plus weren't the groups announced yesterday? They wasted what some hours? Some teams are still traveling to the event(American teams) and can't fully watch demo also so in a way they didn't waste too much time. I guess k1ck figures they might stand a chance vs alternate? Since I don't see them beating mTw at all. They had to move a team down, you can't have a group with only two teams, someone was going to get "screwed over" it just happen to be k1ck. Fair enough in my opinion. The group draw is supposed to be completely random (based off seeds) so that its fair for all teams. The draws WERE then drawn randomly, in which k1ck was placed in a particular group. Moving them into a different group goes against the entire random group draw and is _completely_ unfair. Whether or not the group is harder, easier, or same, is completely irrelevant. (In my honest opinion though, the new group they are now in is EASIER, as they would have a better chance of beating coL then either mTw/alternate, but again the group is irrelevant its the decision thats unfair). K1ck have been treated unfairly in this matter. Why k1ck? Why not any one of the other 30 teams in attendance? It's not fair at all that they were moved like that. It's ESWC's fault for doing half the groups with 4 teams and half the groups with 3. What the fuck were they thinking? Should have just invited more teams. Either k1ck should be moved back and the groups stand as they originally were (with 1 group with only 2 teams due to ESWC being retards in the first place) - or an entire new random group draw should be done based off the original seeds.. they are the only 2 'fair' decisions really.

What most likely happened was that they chose a random lowseed team and put that in the group, thus keeping the random factor intact, I doubt they just sat down and decided that k1ck was to be moved.

Yeh im not saying they hand-picked k1ck, but it still is completely unfair that they are the only 'medium' seeded team with no 'challenger' seed in their group. They were essentially moved down a seed, based off the new groups. Due to Tyloo not showing, one of the challenger seeds should have been moved up a seed pool to medium seed (i would say obviously Mojawi would be the most deserving) and then the groups re-done based off those new seeds (or altered based off those seeds if they didnt want to completely re-draw them).

Either way, k1ck would have to eventually beat a High or Top seed team to advance out of group play. I agree that it does seem easier for k1ck. I'd rather be facing coL than mTw or alternate. Redrawing the entire tournament isn't really solving the problem, though. It is what it is. I don't think ESWC is going to do anything with it.

it makes sense that kick would be moved. they needed to move a med seed team and kick was the med seed team in the last pool of 4. whether it was the correct decision or not is a different story... its better than having a group of 2 imo

If you dont have talent to win all the way,if you are afraid of face other clans,it does not matter how much and how hard you practise,you will still not be able to win a tournament. Only reason for the complaint must be that they want to play 3 instead of 2 matches and win 1. k1ck doesn't stand a chance without fox, but imo. they will have a better chance against coL than Alternate, so they should be happy with the move. And no, 2 days are not enough to come up with specific tactics for specific teams and play them well..

How is this so hard to understand for everyone? The Competition takes place this weekend and they teams were only given a week to anti-strat and prepare. Anti-strating involves watching like 3 demos( usually 1 hour long) for every team you must face for each of the 3 potential maps you will play them on. In the end it takes like 15-20 hours just to view demos of 2 teams. This doesn’t include the hours it takes to make the anti-strating strat, testing it and improving it. Also they will probably lose a day of preparing this stuff since they will need to dedicate time to traveling and setting up at the event. ESCW should have planned for this to happen and not just cut corners and take this easy solution, which muddles up the integrity of the event.

i remember that like 4 years ago excello had placed 2nd in fragcup portugal, 1st it was x6tence and 3rd it was ALTERNATE! and they had a better line-up that they have now, and excello werent so good as k1ck right now. why can they belive that they cant win? ;)
