MYM out on round difference

Meet Your Makers will not advance to the playoffs, as the rules state round difference determines which team goes through in the event of a tie on points.

As WeMade FOX managed to beat TyLoo 19-11 on de_train in the last match of the group stage, it secured the South Koreans their second win, putting them on level with the Russians in terms of points. Normally the deciding factor is the match between the two tied teams, which MYM won 17-13 on de_tuscan.

MYM in talk with e-Stars official

However, the rules in the e-Stars Seoul rulebook state different. They explain that the deciding factor is based on the round difference, in which WeMade FOX had +14, while MYM had -10.

"We are very dissapointed with this, the rules are not fair, but rules are rules." - Said Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov about the situation.

The e-Stars Seoul 2010 rulebook states the following:

Score in this case is referring to points.

This means that WeMade FOX will progress to the playoffs, where they will face fnatic. The second semi-final will see TyLoo and Frag eXecutors clash.

I agree, tyloo would be second whether they would win or lose so obviously they didn't play at full strenght allowing wmf to win versus tyloo. I agree that MYM did not play that well but they were definitely better than WMF. Also if you consider that MYM played versus fnatic on their best map while if they would have played an other team on de_train they could have won.

Rules were announced beforehand. It's their own fault if they haven't read them. Stop whining MYM, WMF deserved their spot. :]

it's not about know the rules in advance, it's about using stupid rules. in 99/100 tournaments the team that won the match between both tied teams advances but this time it is different and it resulted in the better team getting eliminated.

Well, I wouldn't say that round difference is more stupid than deciding by the match between tied teams. It's just different. Matter of preference. It tells more about the general performance of the team and not just one map if you want to think it from that point of view. Teams played against same teams, so the round difference is a fair factor. It's probably even more accurate than just comparing the match between the teams as it is bo1 and single map could go either way, even if the other team is generally better. They knew the rules, they knew they wouldn't qualify if they play like they did. They shouldn't complain.

And still, they are the only ones - Who uses round difference when a team is tied - Sucky eStars :-) It is wrong, and totalt uncool, when every other events uses like horosho said, match between the 2 teams that are tied :-)
