Video: Interview from Down Under

We have conducted an interview with Immunity member Gareth "gazR" Lynn and Chris "GoMeZ" Orfanellis from DICEVIP, to get an impression of what Counter-Strike 1.6 is like Down Under.

Most of you might associate Australia with Kangaroos, Koala Bears, Sydney Opera House and Aboriginals. During our time in Beijing for the MSI BEAT IT finals we conducted an interview with Gareth "gazR" Lynn from Immunity and Chris "GoMeZ" Orfanellis from DICEVIP, for you guys to get a better insight in what the Counter-Strike 1.6 scene is like Down Under.

Hit play on the video below and watch this 6:14 minutes long interview with the Aussies.

Immunity are currently bootcamping at Inferno Online in Stockholm, where they are preparing for World Cyber Games 2010 in Los Angeles later this month. The Australians have been drawn into Group E, facing Lions, Evil Geniuses and FACE2FACE!, in what is by far the toughest group of the eight.

Make sure to follow Immunity right here on HLTV.org during their adventures at WCG 2010, as we will be onsite to see how they cope with the rest of the world.

will be hard for immunity :X hope australia can get to a more professional level soon, eventhough its hard cause of the reason they've mentioned. but maybe they can do some damage and suprise at the WCG's.

atleast immunity seems to have solid sponsors who can send them to china and to sweden to bootcamp, thats hard to come by for a lot of other countries that are a bit more off the grid.

Keep in mind that this interview was done before the groups for WCG got drawn. Great to get some words from Down Under, not a whole lot we hear from and about them in general.

I guess it dosnt really help the growth of the game in any way. Still it should be the same conditions for CSS, but it might be different, I dont know.

The only way to get Counter-Strike in Australia is through steam. Most people who dont play games go to the shops and see Counter-Strike Source so they end up buying that.

Yea the only way to purchase CS 1.6 now days is from the steam website, and its not like many people new to gaming know about it. Although with those new updates to css ive seen a lot more people coming back to 1.6 :D

hi, im the guy in the interview, i havent watched it yet since im still in china and they block youtube. basically what i meant was "you can only buy 1.6 if you have steam already installed". Most people buy Battlefield or Medal of Honor which dont use steam, therefore they never get the the chance to play CS. If Valve/Vivendi brought out something decent on Steam (Steam Only Game) i think Cs numbers would improve

actually yeah, you are. the TF2 community isn't very large for competitive play, at least not compared to what 1.6 was. CS:S is dwindling competitively also, with players semi-regularly attempting to make the switch 'back' to 1.6 competition play, but being thwarted due to the lack of it.
