PGS 2010 changes finals dates

The organisation behind the 2010 Pro Gamer Series has announced changes to dates of the season finals.

The tournament was initially scheduled to take place from 18-19 December, but the organisation has opted to rethink the dates as they meant the event would collide with XLParty, one of the most famous LAN parties in Portugal.

After a meeting with their XLParty counterparts, the PGS chiefs have decided to postpone the finals almost a month as the community will "benefit from and enjoy much more these two tournaments if they take place on different dates", the PGS has indicated.

The 2010 PGS finals will now take place at the Guimaform LAN house in Guimarães from 7-9 January, with the €4,350 prize purse distributed as follows:

1. €2,100 + 5 x SteelSeries Siberia v2 USB
2. €1,200 + 5 x SteelSeries Merc
3. €650 + 5 x SteelSeries kinzu + 5 t-shirts by xirts.net
4. €325 + 5 x SteelSeries Fnatic Edition + 5 t-shirts by xirts.net
5-8. €75 + 5 x SteelSeries qck
9-16. 1 Game Server by TugaNetGames

Meanwhile, it has been announced that the finals will have six slots for foreign teams, who will not have to enter any qualifier to participate in the event. All teams willing to apply for one of these places simply have to send an email to [email protected] to receive the necessary info.

It's a way to improve the portuguese gaming scene, to attend the qualifiers the teams pay €75, so we provide that value to the teams placed from 5-8 to give the teams more reasons to participate and train hard so that they can reach the money spots. Btw, in Portugal the regular events have money prizes from 1st to 3rd, and lower prize moneys...

I'm really wondering why big teams attending these events are getting like 5x Siberia v2. Like they don't have it already Is it a sponsor thing?

sponsors provide them for prizes, so they give it anyways. it's common to see coachi, shouw and company selling them on portuguese forums so they get some money from it.

be careful, pgs is a bad organization of qualifiers, in portuguese qualifiers there are no hltvs, photos, etc. If this happens in their own qualifiers, in the final i dont and to imaginate. And i dont have sure if that prize money is real of fake, there are no garanties. They never organized before a single tournament in Portugal. In the end we will see.

no hltvs? guess there weren't any at one qualifier. Everything else went well. Photos? Yes PGS have them, just visit their facebook. And the prizes are not fake, just grab ur calc and do the math if u can do so. And all qualifiers were very well organized, just ask the participants ;) If ur saying that only out of hate or envy please avoid posting comments like urs if u don´t have any proof to backup ur statement. sheers everyone and enjoy PGS :)
