Team Alternate captain David "CHEF-KOCH" Nagel has confirmed to Fragster.de that Direnc "seraph" Öz has been given his marching orders.

The German player was due to compete at the IEM5 European Championship Finals but announced on Tuesday he would not be able to travel to Kiev following a death in his family.

This was the second dropout for ALTERNATE for the event, after Kenyon "KenaN" Temmel had declared himself unavailable due to academic obligations.

Nagel has expressed his frustration at losing two of his players shortly before the event, going as far as to question their commitment to the Alternate cause.

"The players that cancelled the trip to Ukraine did not show the necessary motivation," Nagel told mymym.com.

"That‘s why I said that we need to make a change, we need to swap players. We need to make a change if we want to assault internationally, because then we need players with ambitions."

Although Öz is the only player to be removed, Nagel has given Temmel a one-month period to prove he is dedicated enough, otherwise he will also be given the boot.

seraph kicked from Alternate

Alternate, who are in Kiev with Hardware4u duo Sebastian "zorn" Weber and Eduard "eddy" Schmidt as stand-ins, have yet to score any points at the ESL competition after three matches.

The German team will have to move in quickly to find a successor to Öz as the registration deadline for the EPS league is this Sunday.

i didnt base it on "absolutely nothing". and you dont consider it odd that a guy gets questioned for his dedication to the team and also gets more or less forced to leave the team when he had a fully legitimate reason for missing the IEM event? i do and i think it's bullshit..

This news article doesnt say that Seraph himself wanted to quit. I clearly points out that CHEF-KOCH gave him his marching orders when he didnt want to attend the event, cos of a death in the family.

The way the article is written, it leads people to believe that one player had a family death, one person had academic purposes.. The leader gets frustrated so he kicks out the person that had a family member die, that makes the team leader seem very heartless. Surely there were reasons he got cut?

CHEF-KOCH thinks, seraph doesn't feel to play Counter-Strike anymore he's tired, spiritless and unmotivated. And CHEF-KOCH wants to achieve great things because he is a visionary. But with that lineup, I think it's not possible... Perhaps an organisation will pick: -seraph -ODIE -troubley -Roman R. -Vision I do not know how the team chemistry would be but individually they would destroy all. There are rumors that Blizzard wants to play again and there is every indication that Vision is an asshole, therefore you could replace him with Blizzard.

CHEF-KOCH might be thinking he is acting wisely in seeking more "dedicated" players but how lame it is to blame someone for not attending a fucking gaming LAN when someone in family has died?
