Ecuador to stage FIRE 2011

Anderson "Aneurex" dos Santos has revealed that the FIRE organisation has decided to move the tournament to Ecuador.

Dos Santos, who has organised gaming events in Brazil for several years, also added that the prize purse for the tournament could hit the $10,000 mark.

The last edition of FIRE, which took place in October in Brazil, saw mibr pick up the crown after beating Argentine side Wild Ineters in the final.

With Dos Santos earlier claiming the country will not host a qualifier for the upcoming ESWC, this may well be one of the few international competitions that Brazilian teams will have a chance to attend in 2011.

The last international event in South America was the KODE5 Global Finals in Peru in December, which CNB-Gaming won with a 2-0 victory of Wild Ineters.

First KODE5 failed in Peru, now FIRE is gonna do the same stupidity in Ecuador, I'm not telling that they are not a really nice country, but c'mon.. only Brazil and maybe Argentina are capable of holding a event like this, let's be realistic.

you're right, I wasn't even informed about this lol, I'm telling you this because my team is probably the only active team here in Ecuador, we can't even play on lan anymore because of the lack of players, so we play online, (esea-main). Hopefully this is a great event, and people from all over the place come along =D

lmao you must be kidding me! well, nothing against ecuador but I don't think it's a good choice. anyways there is nothing we can do, and I don't care either where it's being held, since I'm not a pro player xD

Not in fact, brazilians teams will have to fly there and it's something that isn't cheap and we also don't know if there will be qualifying for the International finals...

I think that it's more of a financial issue, i mean everybody knows that it's BRAZIL or ARGENTINA if you want something BIG cs related in South America. So yeah, people should be thinking both ways instead of just judging from the outside, i mean it aint that easy to organize something in South America...

I live in the states but to be honest its not expensive at all to travel in South America..but I guess its different if your not starting with USD but still its a lot cheaper to travel than North America or Europe by far....im pretty sure any team able to compete from Brazil or Argentina can afford to travel there

You also have to consider how much money people make in South America. I guess 250 USD is not expensive for you but believe me when I say, this is the average salary over here!
