WCG groups drawn

Groups for this year's World Cyber Games have been drawn. The tournament kicks off in Busan next week, with twenty-five teams competing for a slice of the $34,000 prize purse.

If you are wondering why we are posting the groups this late, it's because when the groups were initially announced on WCG's website, we noticed the Australian representative, Immunity was not included on the list. After contacting WCG and making them aware of the problem, they resolved the problem and added Immunity in the groups.

The group stage for WCG 2011 will be played with eight groups, seven of them consisting of three teams, and one with four. Top two placed teams in each group will advance to the playoffs, which will be played in best-of-three maps in a single-elimination bracket. The groups look as follows:

The bracket for the playoffs has been pre-determined, meaning teams will know in advance who they will bump into once they reach the knockout stages. The bracket will be played out as listed below:

Wondering how the schedule for the event will look like? The group stage will begin December 8 and continue on December 9. The remaining two days, December 10 and 11 have been dedicated for the playoffs, with the Grand Final scheduled for 04:30 on the main stage.
