CS:GO Beta expanding

Two months after the initial release, the development team has finally broke the silence by releasing new information about the beta.

A post on twitter has informed the community that the awaited expansion for the Beta is set to be released tonight.

If you are in the forums betting on when we are going to expand the beta - I want to place my bet. I put $1000 on today. - Valve tweets

Sal "Volcano" Garozzo's feedback session may have proven to be helpful in the development of the game, as the changelog for the beta has a total of 85 lines, including more maps and weapons.

This update will not only feature more in-game content but also more players, as they've announced that they will be inviting more people to play the beta.

Stay tuned at HLTV.org as we will continue to bring you updates on the development of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Well, that's nothing to be really much afraid of, they released the beta with practically nothing done, which means that as they proceed, it should be better and better. Which doesn't happen obviously (yet).

actually i would like, as well. but the chances of that happens, to me, is like 1%. and even if that will not be as good as 1.6, we'll lose a lot of players... in such a hard time already.

The problem is, the kids isn't going to play counter-strike 1.6.. well some of them but not all. All they care about is graphics, and the sponsors doesn't really care for a so old game anymore, this is why Starcraft 2,LoL,HoN is on top

That isn't the only probem too. I mean look at all the pro players that have left in just the past year and all the teams that have disbanded. In the professional scene, the game has become stagnant whether you want to believe it or not. Long gone are the days where teams come from every corner of the world and give each other a run for their money. The only teams that do any damage are in Europe. American and asian teams are a joke at these international events and its mostly because the best and brightest from those regions have stopped playing and the growth of the game has fallen to a crawl compared to Europe.

Well said, i totally agree with you. I've been playing fps games for ages, testing one after another to see if any of those actually are as good as 1.6, and NEVER saw one. My hopes are with CS:GO, with better graphics and 1.6 gameplay. That's my dream.

I am praying CS:GO is successful, this game is in parole, the only reason I come to this site anymore is to check tourny results, their are only 4 or 5 contenders anymore, prize money is getting lower and lower as well as LANs themselves, sponsors are getting diminished due to the cost to travel and board/feed 5 people, and even one of the great minds of this site himself has said he feels like it may be time to move on soon, this game needs a new life. Hopefully it is CS:GO as I for one am a fan of Counter Strike and the competition and want to see many more years of it.

If you want play a good game , you have COD , or BatleField and stop calling names to cs 1.6 . Cs:GO have more grafics and more things , but the only reason who put cs in 1 in the world is the basic things , and the fast movments !

CS Promod has more potential to me than CS:GO. and it's true that 1.6 isn't going to last for many more years on a competitive level, but if u look at the current scene there are a LOT of good teams. prize money has decreased a little bit however there is still a lot of great players and plenty of events in different European countries, ur talking as if 1.6 is dead already

Dude The U.S. scene is dead we need a new spark to keep it lit. I mean no one plays anymore. It's no fun anymore. You come across the same team 2 times a night just to get a scrim.

it is already dead in many countries. We should all hope CS:GO can bring something new and playable. CS 1.6 at amateur level is really dead, only the semi-pro and pros play the game a lot, and the semi-pros are fewer every day.

that's not true,in most of the countries you can see lots of amateurs semi-prost hanging on pretty tight to cs i mean just look at 2010,no one ever heard of na'vi,they just came, owned everyone, and teams like winfakt, mandic, anexis started to appear/re-appear and make a pretty good impression aswell,in present,i think winfakt is a pretty strong name in the communit 2011: moscow five made her way through pro-gaming and i'm sure many new teams will make a good impression throughout the year i've chosen teams that came in my mind, there are many others

u are talking about TEAMS , not players , most of them were good know b4 making NaVi and M5, im agree with #114 , its a very hard to step up for players from ESL or other leagues to bait teams like NaVi , ESC or SK . But i think changing game to CS:GO wont change anything , CS is not like football where exist schools for young players that they can give you a very good conditions to train 8hours per day , 5 days per week , most of players need to go to school, work or something else ...If u want to be a pro u need play alot , forgeting about the school and other stuffs ...most of players are not able to step up , its sad ;/

CS1.6 is old. Battlefield series is a lot more fun for having actual enjoyment, CS:GO feels a lot like CoD with the same objectives as traditional CS, but adds so many great new features that it's actually enjoyable. You can cheer all you want, playing the same 8 maps from 2002-current is fucking retarded. The CS1.6 USA scene is fucking retarded with a horrible community. The only tactful players are the ones you're playing with, and that's definitely not limited to the US scene. CS1.6 is abandon, and terribly outdated, with no hope of any new development from the developers. I say bring on CS:GO, and keep sitting back and watch CS1.6 dissipate, because that's all you're doing.

Its because you don't quite understand how it would be possible to play a game as good if not better than 1.6. I'm not saying CS:GO is there but it has the potential to be there, the game just needs a lot of work. This sort of thing happens with every community in its transitional period from one game to another. When the fighting game scene was making the big switch from Third Strike(1999) to SF4(2008), a lot of "hardcore/oldschool" players claimed SF4 was a dumbed down version of Third Strike and that it could never play as well and while there is truth to that statement, SF4 reignited the scene and brought back a golden age for fighting games. What I'm trying to say is, whether you like it or not, we need a new game. 1.6 will never die but it certainly is getting less and less fun with all the players leaving and teams disbanding in both the professional and amateur scene.

this is what Chet Faliszek said personally. + watch Schyphers statement & facts towards Hl3, CS 2 and CS GO. i personally think: CS : GO can be seen as a game, that should help VALVE to create THE PERFECT new game. / version of 1.6. and i am utterly sure , CS 2 and HL 3 will be featured on an awesome new engine, wich will beat everything. remember that Gabe Newell once made a statement about that. He said they were developing something , that would beat everything, and they have been working on it for 5 years. GL Valve

+100 People should stop saying CS 1.6 > CS:GO. Because CS:GO can't be a game against CS 1.6. It's a mainly console game and you're thinking it will replace a game like CS 1.6? Seriously? We know CS2 will be out before HL3. All we need to enjoy 1.6. Because 1.6 has more years to end. . And I'm sure CS2 will kick 1.6's ASS! i want to see how many players will be still playing CS:GO next week. :) Also Valve can't announce CS2 until CSGO's release.

The most popular question we see posted, emailed, or tweeted is simple – how do I get access to the CS:GO Beta. For us it is all about the community. Are you active in the community? Are you playing CS now? To reward the most active players, this week we are giving Beta access to the top 7000 active players around the world in CS:S and CS 1.6. We are also giving out additional keys to the top 500 players of CS:GO.

just tested the new patch, they took CS:S and start to fixxing some shit in the maps, is this the new game? so what when cs:go is done? they will stop support cs:s like they did with 1.6? is the same game (css) in a "next patch".

Way too much hatred just for a game. Cmon' guys grow up, even if we already know that nothing's gonna replace 1.6, we cannot just go out and hate a game that as far as we know isn't even A) finished; B)put on the competition stage; C)proved by many of us. And to those thinking that 1.6 players would definately move on (?) and join CS:GO, that would be awesome, meaning the game would actually run as great as we all want/expect.

If you're all hating and won't even touch CS:GO as beta testers, then there's no chance it would be influenced by 1.6er's, and then it would fail for sure. You can't really judge this game before it's official.

There will always be tournaments ( maybe not international though ) when there are players for the game. Just mainstream wise, CS 1.6 doesn´t cut it anymore. Prize money getting lower and lower, prizes aren´t paid out..it´s just a question of time.

whatever... I do think that CSS decline 1.6 gameplay. That's why CSS wasnt able to replace 1.6 in competition. We need a new game from valve (HL3 for exemple) with a complete new engine, with a powerfull and free SDK. Then, CS community devs could be able to create an addon, just like they did with CS (betas), and then sell it to Valve.

GO at the moment is not perfect but this update is a massive step forward. It still needs work, maps need redesigning (Make them more like 1.6 maps than source), bugs need fixing and other things like the notification when you change firing type with a glock is just bollocks at the moment and classic crosshair is just screwed. Still, m4 is now a viable weapon, which is a huge step up from before!

What is the criteria to determine the most active 7000? The total number of hours I spent in the game all time? And how can I figure out what "rank" do I have ? =)

As all you know cs 1.6 its getting better and better and i guess theres no way for cs-go to replace cs 1.6 and here in india this year you heard there just hosting a very big tournament for all the ESL games especially cs 1.6 which will take place this april and it will be a lot of fun.....cs-go its for just amateur not for professional

All you need is a way to improve the graphics in cs 1.6 fixed a bug (bugs specifically with flash), and cs 1.6 is just a cyber-sport discipline to remove all alternative types of weapons (eg shotguns, shields, etc.) is not necessary to remove the card .. . Add a couple of new maps, for example: de_aztec remake remade as de_cbble, de_clan1_mill, de_cpl_strike (de_forge / de_tuscan / de_mirage) making them more balance. That will get you a new CS =))
