Nordic Masters announced

Today a new tournament called Nordic Masters with a prize purse of 50,000 SEK was announced to take place at the end of April in Northern Sweden.

Nordic Masters will be held at NX LAN Festival 2012 set to take place on April 26-29 in Piteå, Sweden. The event will offer 50,000 SEK in prize money, of which 40,000 SEK (roughly 4,500€) will be going to the winners.

The event has so far invited a list of twelve top teams for the event but worth noting is that these are simply preliminary invites and the teams have not yet confirmed their attendance.

Teams invited:

Sweden SK Gaming
Sweden fnatic
Sweden Lions
Ukraine Natus Vincere
Ukraine DTS
Poland ESC Gaming
Germany mousesports
Finland WinFakt
Russia Moscow Five
Russia Virtus.pro
Denmark Anexis
France eSahara

More information regarding the event will be made available soon on their website which is currently not up yet. NX LAN Festival 2012's Facebook page also offers some information regarding the LAN itself, where Nordic Masters is set to be held.

LOL what ? Dont think it would cost even 2000 euros to send a team to Sweden... At least not from Germany, Denmark, Finland and France, not sure from Russia or Ukraine.

Not for the nordic teams no, but it's definitely not cheap for teams such as Na`Vi. They won't end up with much profit if they win first price :) Don't forget about hotel etc.

Thats why I said not sure from Ukraine or Russia, but the rest can get a profit. As i said to a user below: "You fail to see the bigger picture, attending an event is not always a matter of money, what if my sponsor is really interested in the Swedish market, and would get exposure to that market by my team attending the event ? Its all about the ROI but tthe ROI is not determined by the prize money completely."

omg why they not look for sponsor to add a bit more cash to the tourney.. I'm sure a big sponsor will happily do it seeing these teams invited! bigger potential!

People aren't complaining, just pointing out that with the small prize money, the majority of the invited teams won't participate.

Quit bitching about prize money, its not like any of you are going to get it, all you should care about is there is going to be another tournament to watch that will have the top teams in attendance. A tournament with low prize money is better than no tournament at all.

40000 SEK is roughly 5700 dollars so I don't think that the prize money is very low (still not high though) and from what I've heard the prize-pool might go up :)

who cares about dollars, only european teams attendig so the prize in euro is more interesting. 4500e/5 = 900e/person, i guess thats pretty good for playing cs for a couple of days if you get a sponsored trip there

But only one team will win that, 2nd place gets hardly any money. Is it worth the risk for teams like Mouz to travel there, when the only way they can possibly earn a profit is if they manage to win over SK, Na'Vi, fnatic and ESC?

well i dont know. but surely the teams sponsors wants the team to go to events, otherwise there would be no idea in sponsoring a team, so if you get a free trip to sweden to possibly win 900e, wouldnt you go ?
