Team Convention Interviewed

Another pre GameGune interview. This time we caught up with one of the two Norwegian teams going, Team Convention. Last time we saw them in action, were at WSVG Louisville. This weekend they will attend GameGune.

Hi r00fz, for those of our readers that do not know you, please introduce yourself and your team.
Sure, my name is Thomas Sandvik 21 years old and I am the captain of Team Convention. KF3 is for sure one of the best players I've ever played with and usually is the guy who puts up the big numbers on the scoreboard and clutch rounds. syrtekZ, great rifle guy who also like those 1onx situations. drei, our main awper and the bodyguard in the team I guess. nOLA, big talent, amazing aim and Im expecting him to shine at GG.

You will be attending GameGune 2007 starting this Friday. What are your expectations about the event, and your team?
Well I expect it to be great tourney with no delays, guitar hero crap, just a pro tournament I guess. For Team Convention I expect us to play our game and from there anything could happen.

Last event you attended were WSVG in Louisville, you lost to NiP in the lower bracket. Did you expect to go further, or are you satisfied with the team performance or are you desperate to perform better?
First off all, If we had knew that WSVG was so piss poor we really had never gone over there. The delays, for example we waited 8 hours until midnight to receive the message that we would be playing the next day. The sound level was horrible, we was told that ventrilo was not allowed, TFT monitors has really nothing with fps games to do. It’s just a totally different story. Just want to state that the Turmoil game we lost, we sat 10 meters from the guitar looser stand without ventrilo and had no sound, they however was seated in the other end of the event and used ventrilo. Worst event ever, wish them good luck in the search for the next guitar hero.

Have you done any major preparations for the upcoming GameGune?
Before GameGune we have practice online and we have worked really hard to fix some of our mistakes in our gameplay. Hopefully it will pay off at GameGune.

How does your team stay motivated through a tournament, even if you lose a few matches?
Well it always feels bad after a loss, you just have to focus on the next game and play your heart out.

What do you do the last 15 minutes before an important match?
Well usually we repeat pistolrounds and the first gunround. Other then that just play to get ourselves warmed up.

Who do you think will come out on top, and who will be the big disappointment at GameGune?
Well after PGS amazing run at ESWC Its hard for me to see a team that could beat them in the race for the first place, maybe fnatic. Who will disappoint? I've honestly now idea.

Your team is in group C, with mibr, myw, team-mushkin and aCv. How do you see your chances of advancing to the brackets?

If we don't finish top2 in that group we really have nothing there to do. So of course I expect us to get pass the group stage.

Lots of great international teams will be attending GameGune, do you fear any teams?
We don’t fear any teams, but of course we have great respect for all teams.

Who do you think will fight for the 12.000€ in the final?
PGS and fnatic.

Thanks for your time. I would like to wish you the best of luck in the tournament. Any last comments or shoutouts?
Big shoutouts goes to TC-Rolf and TC-Alf for supporting the team and make it all happen. Convention.no, cya in Bilbao!

Looking forward to see how well Team Convention will do at GameGune, they sure do have some talent to show. Best of luck to them. Drop by our coverage section for the latest news from GameGune 2007.

Convention will get far;)

Sorry to say this, but mym is the only org that is allowed inside the turnament-area to cover the event. FB thouhg will send 2 guys (or maybe 1 guy 1 girl if Lancia is going, I don't know :P) to try and get as much coverage as possible.
