Martin "trace" Heldt has been announced to be Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl's replacement in fnatic, making the team majority of the team Danish for the first time since its creation.

With Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl's retirement last week, the fnatic Chief Gaming Officer Patrik "cArn" Sättermon once again went on to post a riddle including nick names of hot candidates to join, for the community to have fun guessing who it might be.

The announcement about the newest member in fnatic came today and as many had guessed, the Dane Martin "trace" Heldt is the guy to fill the void left by Ståhl.

Heldt was rumored to join fnatic already earlier this year, following Faruk "pita" Pita's decision to step back. Heldt did, as we know, not join fnatic, but instead joined SK Gaming. He only lasted two and a half months on the team before being removed after Copenhagen Games.

trace teams up with fnatic

Since then he's been a part of Xapso, which in recent time turned into eSrael. The team has been producing noticeable results online and attended the $10,000 3rd Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online in Stockholm where they fell short against fnatic.

Heldt has now signed with fnatic, leaving eSrael with just four members, while fnatic once again has a complete roster of five players:

Richard "Xizt" Landström
Andreas "MODDII" Fridh
Finn "karrigan" Andersen
Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
Martin "trace" Heldt

With Heldt joining fnatic, the team changes flag to Danish, as the majority of the members now hail from the Kingdom of Denmark, for the first time in fnatic's Counter-Strike 1.6 history.

Heldt's fnatic debut will happen on July 26-29 in Bilbao where the team will travel to attend the 2012 edition of GameGune. For a small interview with Heldt head on over to the fnatic website.

Again, his post was too long for a regular thread. It warranted a separate blog. What's wrong with having multiple contributions to a particular topic? If his blog was just "LOL IT MU5T BE FR0SET!!111", then you'd have a point. But he'd clearly put some thought into it and it was a decent read. I guess my main disagreement is about extending the "only one post per topic" policy to blogs. All it does is stifle discussion. What's the upside?

It is not about featuring a regular thread or a blog, but to place the content in an ongoing discussion; in this case theories about carn's riddle to hinto who would be the new player. The reason for redirecting everyone is that carn's blog was the right place for these theories. On the one hand everyone's theory is discussed and on the other multiple threads/blogs on the same issue is avoided thus not flooding with unnecessary content the 'Active threads' listing. I understand your disagreement but I hope you will understand on your side that in specific cases, like this one, it is more than justified.

Of course we can agree to disagree. I do have one more question though: why do you consider the extra content unnecessary? I would argue that by letting people write what they want, you stimulate discussion. Only purposefully disruptive threads should be removed.

If it is one thread after another on the same issue it is indeed unnecessary. And these threads do not necessarily have a disruptive purpose but a 'this is what I think' nature. Unfortunately it derives into a disruptive nature in the end as instead of discussing in an already created thread some users feel the need to be the topic starter.

I think there is more to it, they never put in effort to integrate trace in the lineup. When cArn was playing he didn't understand a thing about what Friis said but he integrated him well. People are relating the fall of SK with fnatic, they certainly are not able to see that fnatic now has players who completely understands each other when spoken simple words. Most of the them are saying that trace is defensive player but they don't know he is the most flexible player out there and can play any role perfectly and they seem to forget he was the entry-killer in mTw and played as a backup player in eSrael/Xapso as the players there were young with no experience at all. fnatic was already number 1 before trace joining now only a bad day will stop them for playing first at the podium. This lineup is extremely dangerous. Sorry for long post. Don't know why did i wrote but felt like writing :)

Even with delpan they still need months before they can win anything. If u look at trace, how long have he been on SK? If I look at it, it's not trace's fail on SK but more like SK's fail to utilize trace as great assets. Why? He obviously played way better than 4 others on SK, but they decided to remove him. There's no way you can call that as a fail, statistically.

Is there any special motivation to play vs SK in your new team right now, or you've had enough of "revenge" in beating them at FCL? Beating SK comfortably online isn't really much of a "revenge", even though it always feels nice to win. It is more embarrassing for them losing to a "small" team like us, but I don't give it much thought. There has always been rivalry between fnaticRC and SK so it would be fun to play against them on lan. But I don't really care about proving myself, because I know I'm the best ; )

Im not a big fan of this move. Yes trace is one of the top players, but his play style does not resemble Gux's. I think they should have found an aggressive player that could kind of fill in for Gux because now fnatic has to change all around again and it took them like 2-3 tournaments just to get into the groove, so now fnatic might not produce the results right away, but they are still my favorite team no matter what so lets hope for the best.

i dont agree. in SK this was the problem, but in fnatic it really shouldnt be a problem. MODDII and Gux are essentially the same player so MODDII can just take over Gux's aggressive role. besides that, karrigan is a really aggressive player as well so they really dont need anymore aggressive players. i dont think it will be that much of a problem for fnatic to just switch a couple of positions here and there to make it work. after all, they maintain a really high level of individual skill and they play fairly simple. so it's not like as if they all of a sudden have to rely much more on tactics and teamplay than skill. the skill level will be the same.

Your argument does not really make sense because fnatic with Gux had 3 aggressive players, (Moddii, karrigan, gux) as you stated, but adding trace reduces that number to only 2. Also in SK everybody was individually skilled as well but look how that turned out.

"[...] so they really dont need anymore aggressive players" what im trying to say here is that you dont need more than 2 aggressive players because if you got 3 (like fnatic did), one of them will end up doing more defensive stuff than they're used to. and even if they want to play with 3 very aggressive players (which i doubt), Friis can probably take that role. in SK the problem was that without Delpan, none of their players were aggressive except for maybe f0rest. all the other players like face and get_right wants to play slow and defensive. that's not how it looks in fnatic and that's why trace will be a much better fit in this team than he ever was in SK. Trace only picks AWP when no one else will and he rifle is WAY MORE sick than awp, Karrigan can sue awp again, but in fnatic Friss in main AWP - karrigan too and crazy with rifles COLON is mainly awp, frankly I dont care if COLON or karrigan use rifles, however I think COLON is better awp'er so to sum this up: 1 AWP: Friis (because he sucks with rifles) 2 AWP: COLON or Karrigan Rest have rifles - and Arcadion is atm most awesome caller in Denmark. He lives in a big danish town called Viborg with his girlfriend who is an old player from AuroaGaming. You remember Juliebabz? He understand danish very well and speak it quite fluent aswell. I was playing with him on the danish LAN event, Lindved LAN last year and there he only spoked danish almost the hole time with an swedish accent ofcourse. Why are people hating on this? Fnatic is a well established organisation that pays salary like ESC and SK. Whereas, calling trace a scumbag because he left team which in majority is an online team with only 1 or 2 LAN tournaments to its record and highly unstable career wise, is very immature. He is a professional player if you haven't realised. He does this to make MONEY and not play casually with friends and other people from his country like many of us do. After SK his nest best option is fnatic as they already have two Danes in that and they have already figured out how to communicate with each other so that is not going to be an issue very likely. For all I can assume, Trace HATES SK and would provide much greater motivation to fnatic to perform well in Game Gune. He is regarded as one of the best players today. He is an excellent over-all player. Having 3 awpers in fnatic is going to be very interesting and unprediuctable like Moscow Five with xek, Dosia, Fox. And fnatic awpers are much better awpers and overall players than compared to Moscow Five players. You have to be retarded to refuse an offer from fnatic. This is great!

I agree with everything except trace was always a rifler until he was required to use AWP when Sunde left in mTw, SK, etc. In eSrael he only used awp when they needed 2 awpers or when coloN wasn't performing well. I wouldn't consider this a 3 awp lineup. I believe it's 1 awper and 2 backup awpers, considering karrigan was also a rifler.

My point wasn't necessarily to point out that trace is an awper. My point was that he is an excellent player, who can awp. It would be absurd to have 3 awpers anyway. My point was, similar to Moscow Five you have 3 players who can awp very well unlike many other teams. Sorry if my point of view came across in a different way.

Yeah they did for a brief period of time which worked really well for them. Shame they had to disband shortly afterwards as they were getting much better results with the latter squad without Lurrpis, although Lurrpis is an excellent player. But you get my point ;) Ah, definitely! Seems like as soon as mTw disbanded the bag full of talented players opened up and everybody wants to snatch them. Funny it is!

moddi-trace deadly combination! i think trace is better than gux, fnatic won last tour and gux played well as a entry killer but again they lost to na vi on train and won on mirage which is not usual map.. now they will be much much stronger on every map and don t know if na vi/sk/esc could beat them know if all players wiil at their highest levels!

I promoted it. When mTw disbanded, I posted i wanted karrigan back from mouse, together with trace friis, to create foundation of new fnatic since the team was struggling at the moment. But I was flamed, cause fnatic is "swedish only" apparently, i didnt understand since orga is australian.

You guys always try to promote e-Sports and make it act as something similar to other sports, but jeez, the way players and organizations manage themselves is so unprofessional and all those changes just makes this scene look so bad. Teams and organizations should have solid contracts that makes sure all five stays together for one year, or at least six months, or else this business is a joke for kids who wants to earn some dollars from a computer game. Things must run a bit different in this poor scene, which is already dying.

the biggest problem with this team is that they dont have an entrykiller , or as aggressive player like gux was. trace is pretty passive , xizt and friis dont fit on that role since they are igl and the main awp. and like pretty much everyone knows , moddii and karrigan aint the most aggressive or suitable players for that role.. well gl on working with that fnatic.. :D

how come? here's an example : sometimes gux used to push all the way to house stairs for an entry at inferno CT side : what about trace? he was usually holding the bombsite or long on same map same side now tell me is that aggressive? then same scenario with moddii , most of the time he plays himself on a position waiting for the enemies peak , usually on a pretty safe distance cuz he relies on his aim , not on his aggressiveness or random pushes/positioning served~ ppl are clueless

Served? Give me a break. You obviously haven't seen trace play that much. The only reason he often stood passive is because his team didn't allow him to go aggressive. And I don't see why he should go aggressive anyway with his sick aim. Leave the job for someone else. Also, Karrigan is entry-fragging quite often as well.
