CSP 1.09 release after CS:GO

CSPromod developer team has announced on CSPromod.com that the awaited 1.09 beta version will be made publicly available soon after CS:GO's launch, which is set to happen on August 21.

They also stated they aren't afraid of being in direct competition with CS:GO as CSP is built first and foremost for the competitive games, whereas CS:GO is directed towards a mass market and gathers its competitive side mainly from the CS brand.

The team also recognized the fact CSP has not been receiving consistent enough updates, but said it will change soon as the developer team is expanding which is expected to speed things up immensely in the future.

Some of the updates coming out in version 1.09 include a new shader system which will greatly improve visibility of the player models in dark areas, introduction of the CSDM gamemode which was previously beta tested, improvements in the sound system and a plethora of bug fixes and minor changes. In total, the changelog is over a 100 lines long.

Finally, the CSP developer team said they have big ambitions and plans for the near future which will be announced shortly. More information about the changes in the developer team will also be made available soon.

it's our pretty last chance of having a real pro targeted fps from cs legacy (csgo is pretty far from being competitive, they need to radically change the game)

looks like Pus read it in favour of CSP. actually it is written "Therefore, we will wait to release 1.09 until after CS:GO has been out for a little while." which imo means that release is postponed indefinitely.

To be honest i kind of hope either CSP or CS:GO bomb out and become shit. Last thing we need is 2 decent games competing with each other and splitting the CS community like it did with 1.6 and Source. Just lead to both games going dead much faster. Id rather CPS become the dominate FPS game but i really dont see it happening.

If csp grows bigger and bigger, valve will just put more money into csgo in order to kill the other fps titles (just like they're doing in dota2) and the csp community will only be composed of a bunch of 1.6 fans, but there won't be any competitive scene, like CS:CZ. Moreover, i think that valve can stop the csp project if they want. When csp started, valve allowed them to "copy" their own game because it wasn't in competition with CS:S. Now if csp competes with csgo, valve will simply sue them and make the csp project shut down. And finally, the game is updating slowly (the 1.09 release should have happened last week, and it will arrive after csgo...), pro players aren't interested in it at all, there isn't a lot of people playing it on a daily basis and the release of the full game won't happen before mid-2013 So csp has absolutely no chance to succeed. And that's a FACT

Valve won't sue the CSP team. What is developped with Valve's SDKs is Valve property. They might take it and put a price on it like they did with CS in the past. It was just a mod back then, just like CSP is now. But Valve stated in an interview a few years back that they didn't even looked into CSP at all and are not interested in it. I think CSP is aimed at an old gaming market and this kind of strategy is outdated now. Gamers are kids that love to smash people using only 2 buttons nowadays, it wasn't like that at all before. Still remember those games you were almost crying on because you just couldn't beat that motherfucking endlevel boss ? You don't see that anymore today. People want easy to master gamers today. CS:GO is one of them, CS:S was one of them, CSP is not and it will suffer from it.

Yes. Valve already threatened them back when the project started. Then they decided to allow them if they changed their name from "Counter Strike Promod" to "CSPromod", but now that csgo is on the table, you can be sure that valve will make lawsuits in order to shut down the project if csp gets bigger and competes with GO

I don't think so. That would be a real bitch-move. Valve is aware of CSpromod since years, they mentioned it in several interviews and they never had a problem with it. The CSP devs simply aren't allowed to make money from it as long as they don't get in contact with Valve to bring the mod on Steamworks (afaik in this case Valve would earn money from CSPromod too). The Steam Greenlight project could be a nice way to do so.

Indeed it would be a bitch move like you said, because valve allowed them to create their own copy mod, but now if csp steps on valve's territory, they won't hesitate to kill them

No shit sherlock, I was merely stating that this bit of news from them in regards to that is one of desperation! It just won't succeed and that's the realistic view on this, they can keep trying and plodding along at a very slow rate but without any financial backing they will just be left behind.

True that. "They also stated they aren't afraid of being in direct competition with CS:GO as CSP is built first and foremost for the competitive games" When I read this I'm a bit sad for them that they don't understand it's quite over. A proper lobbying to tournaments organizers would probably have done the job. Once the "product" was good enough, PR should have been the key, rather than techno-geek-developement releases focus :( But hey, it's a team of devs, not a company, so makes sense :(

yeah, thats why cs:go has a paid tournameny already genius, Quality : CS:GO > ProMod Nobody wants to play a game with the exact same mechanics than 1.6.. wtf is that dude?, new games bring new things... Learn to adapt, not copy a game with just "new" graphics. cs:go is the best.

Why adapt to a game thats bad and leave a good game that requires skill, precision and strategy behind? I mean, cs go could have made a lot of money copying cs 1.6 with better graphics, but why change it so much if people like the other game, i bought cs go and i regret it you know? i would give my account away but it has dota 2 and cs 1.6 in it.

too late tbh. Should have gotten the majorty of players before release of csgo. A missed chance if you ask me. Then again, they had like 5 years or something to actually release a playable game.

hahahahahaha This game is just gonna divide the current CS community even more, how big can it really get anyway without any marketing? Everyone that thinks this is gonna "save" cs needs to understand that this mod is going nowhere and all the money will be in CS:GO. GO figure

Sorry to dissapoint you folks but promod wont make it : -not enough support -takes too long , most people or leagues (ESEA) lost faith to it -Too similar to 1.6 and personally I'm bored with that game ( played it for ~6years now) I played CSGO beta , the game right now is quite meh , HOWEVER : The key for 1.6 players ( and therefore for Lurrpis who keeps bashing it ) is to play this game with a totally new mindset and forget about 1.6. Many things are different from 1.6 , you will have to relearn , and relearning is actually challenging , fun , and bring back those old memories you had playing counter strike the first time ( remember how you sucked , how you werent able to control ak spray ? ) Sure there are things to be fixed and many people agree on that : sound is terrible , too many shit on maps and why not bring back tapping with a slight improvement of the movement to compensate the tapping , but I think CSGO is going in the right direction , the direction where both source / 1.6 / COD and other fps players are playing together. As opposed to this , Promod appears to be a step back , and for FPS and even esports in globality , it's obviously not a good thing.

He's finally changed his tune! CSGO is definitely a step in the right direction and it will only get updated for the better as did the original counterstrike to a competitive game as good as CS1.6 People just need to learn the game is taking the classic format of 5v5 bomb defusal but updating it for the modern market. Once released, maps will come out with less clutter, mods will be developed and the game will fly the FPS flag on a global stage!

Needless to relearn actually I played COD, Battlefield for years already Easy to adapt CS:GO (but cannot be good because I sucks at COD too) but in terms of gameplay, still 1.6 > CSP > COD > CS:GO > CSS Those bugs in 1.6 are unique features for me, so CSP keep that, those bugs make 1.6 a legend and special from other FPS I'm talking about the game itself, sponsor, timing, tournaments all are not included to support my statement. Peace.

1.6 is a legendary game and I doubt a game as its caliber will be ever released . We have to be glad we played it , but there is a time we need to stop being selfish and move on.

well , I was thinkins as you before , bad game is just bad etc , but its more complicated than that , its not only about the game itself , more things are involed... And yes we are selfish , by playing promod or 1.6 we only think about our own pleasure and esport isnt going forward by any step. If CSGO is really the next counter strike , I want it to be as successfull as for example League of legends , and it wont happen if you still play 1.6.

I also want a game which will make it as big as cs 1.6 did, and which will be simply GOOD. But this is what the problem is....cs:go is a bad game, and u cant force it to be not even close as big as cs 1.6....simply u cant, if there are still people who think with their own brains...if u get what i mean.

I play the game I like = I'm selfish So I have to play a game I consider not as good as 1.6 because of "the future of fps in the eSport" once it's on the hype? "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is forever bad." by Shigeru Miyamoto en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Shigeru_Miyamoto#U..

Yes, I think they'll improve the game, but not the way you guys expect. Remember that 1.6 players are not the only playing this game, there are source and casual players. They also have a voice on it

As far as 1.6 teams go, name one top team that has committed other than NiP (if that even counts). I'll grant you that most NA 1.6 teams are giving CS:GO a go (har) but they haven't exactly quit 1.6 either. I doubt that many teams will move to CSP anytime soon (if ever) but until Na'Vi, fnatic, ESC, Virtus.Pro, etc. commit to CS:GO what you're saying simply isn't true.

I'll be honest. I'm all for CS:GO if they weak it a lil' bit and make the servers better, maybe even follow this setup a lil bit and tweak it so it's more competitive hltv.org/forum/175633-improvements-for-c.. Although, I can play both games, fuck, just play CSP if you want a more 1.6 feel and CS:GO if you want to get some cash, whatever gets bigger, I know that I'm gonna dip once i get bigger in the scene and can attend tournaments. :)

This project is joke, who will make something like that for idk 6years?! Cmon everyone lost faith in this, and competing with Valve is even more dumb, even if cs 1.6 and source players would imigrate to CSP, the count would be like -35% less players if we compare to 1.6 now, IN MOST SUCCEFULL CASE IN THE WORLD! So game would be dead in any case.

If they want to compete with CS:GO (which they won't do anyway), then then need to release this version as version 1, not 0.9. Make a fully stable version with whatever you have so far, and get it in the leagues before CS:GO does. In all honesty though, as a few people have mentioned before, I'm afraid it's just too late. Perhaps porting the maps over to CS:GO would be nice though :)

Isn't GO in leagues already? ESL, ESEA etc? Agree on the porting of maps though, some of the maps are absolutely horrific, though there are a few pros who're actually helping out (i.e Volcano etc)

Incase to have 75k Players 1 Game Like Cs 1.6 Haved.

It's smart because the updates will later on come more frequent which will in itself produce advertisement for the game and maybe draw some attention away from CSGO.It's also smart because people will cool down after CSGO has been out for a wihle. Version 1.10 can be released not so long after 1.09. After 1.10 there can't be many more updates until CSP is released completly I hope.

The only hope for CSP for make it (IMO) is when valve releases the Source 2012 SDK. From what i have heard, the physics code is directly portable from old version source engine to the newer ones. So, basically we'll have CSGO with CSP physics, which in turn tries to emulate 1.6 physics. Best of all worlds.

I think CS:GO won't emulate 1.6 physics, if they did, CS:GO will become not realistic， this will against what Valve has trying to make at their 1st attempt: realistic game

CSGO will not emulate 1.6 physics but CSP based on CSGO engine will. When the source code for the CSGO-version source engine comes out.

It's better in so many ways... - The netcode (+ attack-prediction) is godlike (it's even possible to play with Americans). - The graphics are on a whole other level (yeah, people keep saying they wouldn't care about graphics, but that's just not true). - HUD and Scoreboard are improved (you see your team-mates money and you don't need to press TAB to see how many people are still alive). List goes on ..

Dude, I really love 1.6. I'm a CS player since day 1, but after over a decade I'm tired of CS's look. And I'm tired of playing the same maps over and over again. But the gameplay is still awesome. IMO it's an awesome idea to give CS a fresh and modern look while keeping the beloved gameplay, fixing some bugs and improving certain things.

Ffs, does no one really understand the reason behind CSP? It's to have 1.6 with better graphics. The reason for this is because the tournaments stop using an out dated game..

60% of CS player or more will be GO players. 100% of source players will be GO players. 40% of cs players will be CSP players, but after time without no tournaments, some will play csgo and others will stop play everything. easy

No, not even 1% will ever be CSP players. There is no draw to that game. If they couldn't manage 40% of the players before CS:GO comes out, why do you think they'll draw that many after it comes out? Hint: it won't. CS:GO coming out just seals its fate.

Yup! MyMGN, Excello, IHL, Playstar, BrutalCS are all organisations that have shown interest in CSPromod. This isn't for the proplayers ofcourse, but it's for the other competitive players, people like you and me. That's how you build a big community, and from there you build the proscene from your solid ground with viewers etc. The esportindustry is trying to "cheat" CS:GO in to the industry without the community there, which haven't proven to be succesful in earlier attempts (CGS, Source at WCG).

If they truly love Counter-Strike why don't they help make CS;GO a better game instead of "competing"? I think CSP did really well with the 1.6 feelling but realistically they don't stand a chance vs. CS:GO. So why don't they work together instead?

Because Valve doesn't listen to the 1.6 players only. They have the Sourceplayers and the casual players to think of aswell. So Valve takes "the best of all the worlds", which unfortunately makes it a shitty game for 1.6 players.

I play CS:GO and I want it to work out but it just feels like im playing on a console if you know what I mean.. My only hope now is that after they release the game for consoles (xbox, ps3) that they will change A LOT to give it fluent gameplay that it needs to succeed. Otherwise it will be a flop like CSS. I just don't understand how Valve thinks... The game basicly is CSS 2 as it now is.. And we all know CSS failed hard.

Yea but CSP is further on some parts which might be interesting for Valve. There is no point in listening to the source guys because what is source? A game that failed hard but some ppl play it because they are retarded. There is just not one GOOD reason where I can think of why Valve should even listen to what source has to say.

anyone that believes this game will overshadow CSGO is living in a dream world. CSGO is already being picked up by tournaments and lans on an international level, while they don't give a crap about CSP, 1.6 or Source anymore. CSGO is the only future Counter-Strike has, so all of you need to accept that and stop beating a dead horse.
