WinFakt shut down CS team

WinFakt have announced via their official website that they have decided to close down their Counter-Strike: 1.6 division.

The Swedish team had been left with a four-man roster following Emil "FYRR73" Karlsson's decision to link up with fnatic last week to fill the shoes of Richard "Xizt" Landström.

WinFakt have now decided to stop supporting CS 1.6 altogether as a result of the decreasing number of events, with the organisation vowing to switch their focus to "newer games".

"This was one of the toughest decisions we have ever had to make," WinFakt CEO Jelle Baudeweyns told the organisation's website.

"After so many years of playing and supporting CS 1.6 we have now decided that it is time to move on.

"We know CS 1.6 is the reason we were able to enter competitive gaming on a full scale and we owe this game a lot but after the roster problems our team faced and current decline of competitive CounterStrike we had to make a decision.

"It was not an easy one but sometimes you have to make calls against your heart."

The former Lemondogs team signed for WinFakt in May and finished in third place at the Swedish Championship under the Belgium-based organisation after a disappointing campaign at DreamHack Summer.

The future of the former WinFakt Swedish team is still unknown, but the possibility of the players switching to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cannot be ruled out.

Jim "zneel" Andersson will attend the 1.6 event GameON in Ljungby this weekend with the ColdGame mix team, which also boasts Faruk "pita" Pita and André "keiz" Carlsson.

WinFakt had the following CS team:

the majority of fnatics rooster are danes, so I wouldnt call them Swedish anymore! And the organization is from New Zealand / Australia I think!
