€33,000 CS:GO tourney at Cph Games

The organisers behind Copenhagen Games have announced that the 2013 edition will feature a CS:GO tournament with €33,000 in cash prizes.

As with the previous editions, the event will take place at Øksnehallen, an exhibition centre in the heart of Copenhagen, from March 27th through 31st.

With Komplett and Intel pumping money into the CS:GO tournament, the organisers were able to guarantee a €33,000 prize purse, the second highest in the history of the game, only behind that of DreamHack Winter.

The smaller prizes will be paid in cash on location, while the large amounts will be wired to the teams' accounts, also on the spot.

Cph Games 2013 with big prizes for CS:GO

Meanwhile, it was announced that the team signups will be open some time in the New Year, while other informations, such as the distribution of the cash prizes, are expected shortly.

There is also the possibility of a female CS:GO tournament taking place at Copenhagen Games, with the decision depending on the feedback the event organisers receive from the female community.

fnatic came out on top of the 1.6 tournament during this year's event, defeating Natus Vincere in the final, while mousesports were the winner of the CS:S competition, with ALTERNATE coming in second.

Do you think that any of the 1.6 players played for money? If they didn't they just started after 7 years when they switched over to CS:GO. Amazing what a game can do to the moral of a guy who likes to play games. I used to like Neo and f0rest, but now I will hate them until they return all the money they have earned from GO! Ok I'll be fair. Keep all the 1.6 money because that was just for fun, they accepted the under protest.

Haha no i wasn't serious :) Sorry, but i thought my irony was obvious. My bad. I'm just so tired of the "only for money" talk. It's and insult to the players dedicating their lives to gaming and the community. Regardless if they are making money or not. Of course it's every gamers dream to be able to do what they love and make a living out of it at the same time. I actually don't think there is a single example of a top player that actually just plays for the money and stay good at the same time. Of course there are a few that have hung on to their jobs as professional gamers a little too long. But the money has never been the prime reason to hang on i think. I think it's just the convenience of continue what you are doing. The same reason that makes you stay at any other job that you don't enjoy.

I said dedicated their life. Not sacrificed. I think dedicated is a pretty good choice of words. They practice 40 hours a week. They spend most weekends playing tournaments either online or at LAN. And on top of that they play mixes and gathers while streaming. So yes they are dedicating their life to gaming just as much as a footballer dedicates his to football. And when it comes to the NiP player; do you really think that they don't enjoy the game? Excuse me, but what are you thinking? They have all played this game regularly since the beta first came out. And by that time no one knew if the game ever should take off and give any money at all. They stopped playing 1.6 all together even though it was the only game they could play that would have a chance of any income what so ever.

So if valve takes out another game, they will switch to the same just for income.Where does the love for the game stays? And as far as footballers are concerned, they don't switch to other games like Golf or something just for income. And yes, they dedicated their life towards football, cause there practice and gameplay requires much more dedication.

You really should write a letter to the sponsors of this tournament and tell them. If it's a fact you will not have any problems at all explaining why. Perhaps Intel will hire you as their new Marketing Manager and fire the incompetent bastard working there now.

You have no idea why the last SLAP was cancelled obviously, here's a statement from SLAP themselves: " "The organizer of the trade fair section of G&G Expo have at the very last minute decided that their sales of booths for the trade fair is unsatisfactory. They have because of that cancelled all activities planned in connection with G&G Expo. Unfortunately they are also the administrators of our venue for SLAP LIVE and this means that this round of SLAP LIVE is left homeless. This is of course a huge blow to us as organizers as well as for the SLAP organization. All participants that have already bought a ticket, will of course receive a full refund."" So they were gonna hold SLAP within the Games & Gadget Expo in Frederica, which is a exhibition, and as the exhibition got cancelled, they had nothing to do but cancel SLAP aswell, also why would they cancel Copenhagen games? It's being held in the other side of the country, in another place, the amount of sign-ups are usually very high, and has had international sign-ups for every version of Copenhagen Games.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, CPH Games and SLAP LIVE's are ran by the same eventgroup but backed by completely different companies and groups. The people who backed that SLAP LIVE pulled out, so no tournament. The backers of CPH Games have been there for +1 year and i think they have signed on for a couple of years more. Get your facts straight.

The location of the events i mean, read exactly kiva ))) Copenhagen is the location for the CHG and theSLAP has the location from Frederica, is 1-2 hours ago from Copenhagen. I said the 4th independents countries couse they nearly together. They not so far away like Japan to Amercia, could reach it? NiP from Sweden so its not far away to Denmark.

About female tourney, there are enough teams who want to attend, it's just a matter of finding a sponsor! PLZ SOME KIND(and wealthy/or not :>) SPONSOR SAVE THE DAY! And now rant incoming... To make CSGO grandfinales enjoyable to watch one need to get rid of NiP, they make everything boring. I would love to witness ESC vs Virtus kind of finales at every tourney. So other teams have 3 month to catch up to and beat NiP. And if they don't? Well then, congratz NiP for killing entertainment value of CSGO.

We are sruggling for it, and eventhough its not easy for female gaming, it looks like we have a few opportunities. I think very early in January we will know for final.

May I ask why? Are you guys of the belief that males have a physical advantage over women in esports or why two tournaments?

For us, at least, its not about skills etc. Its more like a bit of a diffrent game with another group of users. We would like more famales into esports, and if this is their requirement, then so be it. This is a start. and if we actually make this happen, this could be one step more towards boys and girls in one big tournament.

Well in my opinion it only makes it worse for females to get accepted in esports as they get segregated from the men. Also it's unfair to the thousands of players that have a higher level then the femals but can't compete in Copenhagen Games because they aren't skilled enough.

You have a point. But in order to take them there, we need to get them started by taking them to events. Copenhagen Games is open for everyone. once the signups are opend everyone can sign up. In that sense its the same for anyone - no matter how skilled you are. Anyways - I do agree that we should one big tournament where girls and boys compete equally, but we need to help boost female gaming, before we can get there.

how about you join the main tourney and stop asking for special treatment just because you're female , that's disgusting. i'm sick of seeing events with 2 separate tourneys instead of 1 big event

Join the main tournament. Give me ONE good reason why a female needs a separate tournament from males on a computer game. Why should you have access to an easy cash prize because you have a vagina?

You're full of crap. I WONDER why nobody wants to sponsor the females, let me give you a hint: they are all useless. No entertainment when you know that 5 random male players can beat you at the game any day of the week. Blame NiP for killing the entertainment? I blame all the other teams being sucky at the game.

The only and one reason why this event runs so good is cuz Copenhagen as city officially support this events, also the state of Denmark, this is real - no joke. They give the event a free area and support them with all electric.

Wouldn't assume NiP are going to take it so easily, this is like 3 months away. Honestly think anyone could take this. A fully practiced ESC with some momentum behind them will be really dangerous and let's not forget the possibility of a big UK lineup turning out alongside Na'vi fnatic VG etcetc. I't will definitely be the most competitive tournament to date, personally i can't wait.

can we , for once see an event where there is no female separated event? with just 1 big cs even where everyone can join regardless of sex? i'm sick of seeing women ASK for tournaments to create SEPARATED events just for them , instead of just signing up for the main event. stop asking for special treatment, that's why you get almost no respect from the male community until you prove you can play in the same league with no division separation
