CPL Winter 2008 Announced

In anticipation to the predictions of the large public, the CPL recently announced their 2008 Winter edition. Held at the classical location, Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas, Texas, the CPL will host a Finals pro-tournament for Counter-Strike 1.6.

This is great news for the fans of Counter-Strike as speculations went as far as the cancellation of the event, or even worse, the replacement of the classical main game, CS, with another one.

The Winter event will also host several semi-pro tournaments just as mentioned in the official statement. The online registration will be launched in a couple of months, as financial information such as the price of a BYOC place or of a room are available.

The CPL announced that it will be holding a CPL Winter Championships Finals from Wednesday, December 17 to Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas, Texas.

The 2008 Winter Event will hold a Finals pro-tournament for Counter-Strike 1.6.

The 2008 Winter Event will also host several semi-pro tournaments.

The online registration for the 2008 Winter Event will be launched in a few months and admission will be $75 for pro or semi-pro tournaments and BYOC. The Hyatt will once again offer rooms at $75 a night.

In a few weeks the CPL will announce the summer 2008 event.

#2 - without the 1.6 version that is, forgot to actually mentiona that aspect. my bad:) i mean eventually 1.6 will be replaced i guess, due to one reason or another. if everyone changes to source it would be ridiculous for cpl to go on with a 1.6 tournament twice a year. and as you surely have noticed, source is gaining field, contrary to expectations. the general majority doesn't want it, but it looks as companies and events orga are kicking it in.
