Back to Basic with $10,822 for CS 1.6

The organizers behind the upcoming piXL event have set aside $10,822 for its Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament.

The tournament, which has been dubbed "Back to Basic," will take place during the Malmö fair between March 28-31 in Malmö, Sweden and requires participants to bring their own computers.

According to fragbite.se, the Malmö fair will have room for 1,500 people, and will in addition to Counter-Strike 1.6 also host tournaments in FIFA 13 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition.

Back to Basic prize distribution

1. $7,730, invite to next piXL event
2. $2,319, invite to next piXL event
3. $773, invite to next piXL event, hardware

The Swedish event will unfortunately clash with the dates of Copenhagen Games, March 27-31, which will take place at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen, Denmark.

yeah but I still enjoy watching 1.6 matches over GO. And I am sure I am not the only one here. CS:GO is a decent game in its current state IMO. But definitely not as fun to watch as 1.6 was. So if people still want to watch 1.6 matches and someone wants to host a 1.6 tournament, whats the problem.

It depends what they will choose.. I mean that they have 2 options. 1- going after money and attend this 1.6 tournament. 2- going after experience and improving in GO. In march imo they stand no chance in GO competition still.

Some GO teams will probably take on 1.6 for a week or so just for this tournament. Doesn't mean anything other than that this is probably one of if not the biggest 1.6 tournament there will be in 2013, so enjoy it but this doesn't mean other organisers will set up another 1.6 tournament :P Nice to see that 1.6 gets a nice good final run tho

Love how hyped up everyone is getting when no good teams will attend. The way i see it is NaVi MIGHT attend if they fail in vienna. If they fail in vienna then they will probably just retire. wish people on this website would face the fact that 1.6 is dead and is NEVER coming back.
