A long long time ago (in 2016) autimatic was one of NA's best prospects, arguably being TSM's best player at the time, a lineup that had seang@res, Twistzz, SicK and relyks(?). C9 recognized his abilities and offered him a contract mid to late 2016, which he accepted. Now playing under the banner of C9, he evolved even further into one of NA's most consistently good players, despite not having many HLTV top 20s to show for it. The team appeared to be carried by him and Stewie2k, but unfortunately it wasn't enough as Skadoodle, Shroud and n0thing had already started to enter the twilight zone of their careers. In mid to late 2017, C9 sought to create a North American super team, which they did; Signing RUSH and tarik, two really strong players from the stacked but after an initial honey moon period underachieving OpTic Gaming lineup at that time. They looked solid, but nobody could be prepared for what would happen at the next major: ELEAGUE Boston 2018, the successor of the beloved ELEAGUE Atlanta 2017, and it would not disappoint to be sure. But, perhaps shockingly to some, C9's run would be in danger soon: Falling behind 0 - 2 in the group stage, it looked as though it was just another disappoint major for NA. Needless to say, they had us fooled. Making a 3 - 2 comeback, they restored NA's lost pride somewhat, as they were the only NA team in the playoffs; Team Liquid had disappointed with a 1 - 3 group stage exit. But the real challenge would only begin. In their quarter finals match, they faced a hot G2 lineup, also previously dubbed the French superteam, blistering with skill from the likes of an in-form kennyS. And then came the shock: A 2 - 0 from C9, looking good doing it. Surely it was just a fluke. We would see soon, as their next opponent was SK Gaming, the Brazilian power house who, despite having to play with felps as a substitute for boltz because of the major rules(?), were still one of the absolute favourites to win the event. Surely it would be over now. But yet again, C9 defied our expectations and beat SK in a rather quick 2 - 1. But nothing could prepare them for their next opponent: FaZe Clan, the undisputed best team in the world at the time, the most stacked lineup anyone had ever seen. They had NiKo the one tap God, rain the monster entry, GuardiaN the AWP master, olofmeister the most skilled support in the world and karrigan, just about the only IGL to have been able to handle this amount of star power in a team. They were so confident that rain of all people tweeted about how the day of the grand final would be a sad one for NA...

It wasn't meant to happen.

15 - 11, 15 - 12, 15 - 13, 15 - 14, 15 - 15, overtime, on the last map. The morale was broken, and after an excruciating overtime C9 had done it. Skadoodle closed it out 22 - 19. NA's curse of being majorless was broken. Everyone cheered. Skadoodle definitely didn't cry. You cried. And alas, the era of Cloud 9 began.

Well, except for it didn't. Skadoodle was terrible after, Stewie2k left 2 months later and the team just crumbled. Though I see it maintained to this day that this was not a fluke... strange. And that's the story of how autimatic became a major winner. He was by far the team's best player afterwards, but simply couldn't achieve anything with this broken lineup. The rest is history and eventually he left for Valorant, only to come back and get our hopes up again. Hope you enjoyed."
