A descendant of the Hakurei Bloodline, manager of the Hakurei Border of Gensokyo, and the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, Reimu Hakurei is a human with the ability to float - up to and including away from reality, which serves as the basis for her ability to teleport and a technique known as Fantasy Nature. Due to the Hakurei Bloodline, she as a natural talent for many shrine maiden arts and barrier techniques which have been honed with training underneath Yukari.
In Hisoutensoku, Reimu is the "Ryu" of the game, filling in as a basic character who leans towards defense and zoning. Reimu has a relatively high damage output, and an overall solid moveset with meaty normals that are great for stuffing approaches. Reimu also has an array of bullets that can harass the enemy in different ways. Her B bullets are quick and non-committal, and her C bullet is very dense and homes in on her opponent. She also has great defensive lingering bullets, like her default 214 Cautionary Border and the alternate 214 Permanent Border. The combination of bullet moveset her fast air backdash can turn Reimu into a complete wall for her opponents.
However, Reimu is a bit on the slower side, and she might find it hard to drain spirit without the use of spellcards. Overall, Reimu's lack of specialization might be her greatest weakness. Due to this, Reimu's strategy will have to change heavily based on the foe, and a Reimu player must be able to be versatile and fully understand both their own and the opponents options.
