So you want to be in HLTV's top 20 ??? Well, you need to be either:
- talented like s1mple, ZywOo, NiKo or SPINX;
- "optimize" your HLTV Rating 2.0.

You can "optimize" your Rating 2.0 by either killing the enemy team (k/d, diFFicult) and/or "optimize" your impact rating as in picture here (most likely your best option):

MOST IMPORTANT:
- be the LURKER on riFle round, but ENTRY on eco rounds
- play ultra deFensive on enemy buy rounds
- dont take high risks that you can outsource to your teammates
- playing csgo is NOT about winning matches, its about YOUR stats!

DURING MATCH:
- your preferred gun is always M4A1-S, no tracers, no sound!
- opening kills (eco's and pistol round are the best)
- multi kills (eco's and pistol kills)
- damage enemy team, you might get lucky (smoke spam)
- ask your teammates to gather inFo, meanwhile just hold an angle (low risk)
- Stay behind your teammates so you can 'trade' Frag when possible, but NOT iF you're at high risk
- If your teammate is in danger and you are close, just wait till he's killed, the enemy might not expect you
- iF you cant clutch, just walk away and SAVE
- survive

REMEMBER:
- Dont allow teammates the opportunity to get easy Frags that you're supposed to take ! Be an ALPHA when it matters most !
- Your stats >>> teammate stats !

HLTV Rating 2.0 is actually not even completely explained on this site. You have to google to find 'some' comprehension on how factors are weighed in into this rating.

As much as i like the fact that HLTV tried to combine several facts to achieve a wholesome stat, it missed the point completely and became an inflation tool to wrongfully represent a players contribution to a teams result.

The best example i can give is Astralis' BennieF. Professor himself said that a rating of 1,50 feels like 1,1. And thats because NO ONE CARES about f.e. how many kills he gets on eco rounds, its just a useless stat that shouldnt be weighted in into his game performance.

But HLTV *does* calculate it in, making it possible to compare sh1ro's impact to niko or BennieF. And thats why players "need" to play for these stats, and thats just sad. BTW thats also the real reason why BennieF is taking point on eco rounds, while he normally would be considered one of the slowest, defensive lurkers.

TLDR:
The complete rules should be objective, transparent and fully explained on HLTV, and atm its NOT. The second you add weight from a personal point of view to an objective performance, it becomes an opinion, not a fact. Whether those facts are presented as part of the rankings (and how), is ofc the real question.
