Well, the prize pool is twice as big, which is probably why your dear team Liquid tried to qualify for it and lost both times. I'm not saying Liquid doesn't deserve to be top 1 right now based off of what you just wrote, but I don't think the so-called era is solely defined by the HLTV ranking. It all comes down to dominance really. Skipping Sydney like they always do (also last year) and choosing to try and defend their third ECS in a row over going to Dallas is not lack of dominance. If they win ECS, how are they not dominating? Na`Vi also declined Dallas. There are certain events that everyone would die for, i.e. Cologne, Katowice, New York, Pro League, majors etc. These are the wins that everyone wants. Winning those is era-defining. Admittedly, if Astralis is not victorious here at ECS, they've fallen.

I know BLAST has no importance. Thats why Astralis cant be described as a dominant team, while theyve skipped all significant tournaments since the major. Starseries/DH Dallas/IEM Sydney Astralis have played 3 bo3 series since the major (excluding ecs). A team cant stay dominant without participating. If they had chosen not to attend any significant events until August (instead of going to ecs and others from now on), would they still be dominant? Ones dominance ends the second he chooses to not compete for a prolonged period of time.

I think Sydney's the only significant tournament they've missed out on in this time period of absence, and they didn't win that one last year either, but no one questions that in this whole discussion... so it seems that one is able to uphold an era even without winning/attending Sydney. Yes, I agree that it's not a good look on them. Regarding your question: No, they wouldn't still be dominant if they skipped everything until August, because that would mean they would skip several tournaments of importance and prestige, thus NOT dominating the tournaments that are considered era-defining: ECS, Pro League, Cologne, Chicago, and the major. You're asking questions I've already answered or explained. 'Ones dominance ends the second he chooses to not compete for a prolonged period of time.' Not if the prolonged period of time is only including one tournament that are considered prestigious. THAT is the reason they haven't played more bo3s. Alright, I see your point. I guess we don't agree on which tournaments are prestigious and which aren't. As a final point, I don't think any team should play as little as Astralis have in the last 3 months. 4 bo3's (2x BLAST, 2x ESL Pro league) simply isn't enough to maintain a ranking. If there hadn't been any other tournaments to attend, it would be a different discussion, but there were, and Astralis' competitors competed in most. Which makes it very deserving for those teams to overcome Astralis in the rankings, as rankings decay when teams don't play.

I don't want to take anything away from Liquid in terms of ranking. Their #1 is totally deserved, and it's nice to see that they've evidently overcome their "mental block" in finals. We all want the best for the competitive scene. Maybe their nice wins in Dallas and Sydney is a showcase of what's to come, because I believe they have every component to duplicate those wins in the upcoming tournaments. Even though we disagree on the definition of prestige, it seems FURIA is about to end my definition of Astralis' era anyway.

I agree with you, but I don't think Liquid have overcome their mental block in finals just yet. They still look much shakier in finals than in other parts of the tournament, and it wouldn't surprise me if they lose many more finals in the future to teams they shouldn't. Let's hope you're right, though.

I was actually really afraid when I watched them playing the final in Dallas because of what you just said. I feel like Stewie really bailed them out there, but I guess he was never affected by the mental block because he only joined 'recently'. I think the more wins they get under their belt, the less they'll think about it in the future. Now is their time to establish that stability.

lul blastralis was in iem sydney 2018 and lost to FaZe, which makes the "it's too far" reasons seems fishy and just making more reasons to skip events and prioritze blast. skipping events is fine, but if your not defending your "era" by competing at the best tourneys, then your era of domination is over. sure iem sydney, dh dallas may not be as good as other events, but they're still big events where you need to win. don't forget that they also skipped starseries s7.

But they didn't win Sydney and still no one questions their overall 2018 dominance/era, which tells me that they can get away with not winning Sydney this year too and still uphold an era, but they have to win ECS. I agree that it's not a good look not playing anything of importance in three months, but to be fair I don't think Dallas and StarSeries are in the same league as the others. I'm gonna respond to both of your comments here. I'm not a fan of online cs, and I didn't decide that the qualifiers were online. That doesn't change the fact that Liquid, fnatic etc. really wanted to be here, seeing as they attended multiple qualifiers in their attempt to get here. ECS is more prestigious because of its history, (usually) packed attendance and bigger prize pool. This is the season 7 and all of them have been very attractive to play for the teams.. otherwise they wouldn't play long ass leagues just to get to the finals. It's like the secondary Pro League in a sense. Why do YOU keep hyping an event with Lucid Dreams, Isurus and Windigo? Also, Dallas isn't even a returning event, but rather just another Dreamhack location in a long string of Master events. It doesn't have history or hold the same value as Katowice and Cologne for instance. As for your last question, I literally answered that in the comment you replied to. Last three lines.

I would keep lekr0 (IGL) -dennis +plopski and -GeT_RiGhT +nawwk (AWP) GeT_RiGhT coach and if they don't want to remove GeT_RiGhT they could do -lekr0 but I don't know who should ingamelead then

I agree, he is getting old but in my oppinion I think f0rest brings alot of calmness to the team, he is very hard to counter and he can bring home alot of clutch rounds that not many people can do. Also it came up in my mind that NiP needs atleast 3 players from the last major to keep the legend spot so maybe keep Lekr0 as a rifler and see if he can come back to the form he had in GODSENT.

i think problem isnt forest and Get_Right, they bring ton of exeperience but they lack good IGL and awper to be honest..no offense but their chemisty and teamwork is sub standard looks like silver playing not on pro level..they heavily rely on individual performance like though....need changes if u want to be top 3 atleast.. i m 100% sure this team will part ways in coming month or so due to financial and performance issues anyway.
