€10,000 CS:GO tourney in Paris

The organisers behind the GeeX Festival have revealed more information about the tournaments that will be held at the event.

Earlier in the month, a video about a new French LAN party with 2,000 seats was posted on YouTube, catching the eye of the community even though there was no mention of any big-money tournaments being played.

It has now been revealed that the GeeX Festival, which will take place from May 3rd to 5th in Paris, will play host to a €10,000 CS:GO tournament for a total of 32 teams.

There will also be a female CS:GO tournament with €1,750 in prizes, and CS 1.6 and CS:Source competitions, both with prize purses amounting to €750.

A ticket to the festival costs €89, but it includes access to the tournaments, exhibition area, concerts and parties.

To find out more information about the Geex Festival, head over to the event's website by going here.

I think it would be better to see the prizemoney getting higher by normal evolution of the esports scene. If you already hand out 20-50k now, how should this be beaten in the future? ^^

With 100k tournaments and even higher ones? Back in the days we had higher pricemoney for Counter-Strike. I mean, you barely get anything out of a 10k tournament if you may win like 6000€ and you're from the Ukraine for instance. 5-6 flights (manager)and back to the Ukraine. Hotel + things you have to buy there. Oh and tournament fee 5x.

28,500 ? Too much for such a tournament . It's almost 30k and this isn't ESWC, WCG, DH or GG . It's only the begginning and I think that we will se some good teams in this tourney :)

you argue nothing - nice one. Nah but it seems that u got hit by my comment. Just seems so ridiculous to se those die hard 1-6 fans crying at everythread how low prizes are. But none of them realise that there is 10x times more events. Than it was in 1.6. And some of then dont even realise that there is no 1.6 anymore... Truth hurts i know.
