WCG 2007 - Single Elimination

The Grand Final of the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament at the 2007 World Cyber Games Finals are nearing as 16 teams progress to a final single-elimination battle over the next two days.

Two days have already passed since the WCG 2007 Grand Finals commenced in Seattle, USA and already just under 30 teams have been eliminated from the Counter-Strike 1.6 event. This means that there are only 16 teams left who will be battling it out in the final stage of the tournament in the hope of winning a slice of the total $448000 prize purse.

The group stage was exciting with many thrashings but also a few upsets. Day two of the group stage was probably the more exciting and more action-packed with the Group Of Death being forced to eliminate some very well-known names. The WCG Staff have succeeded in bringing us a smooth, well-run tournament so far with very few delays compared to some other events this year. Let us hope this continues over the weekend.

The teams that have progressed so far include the following:

Group A: 1. Virtus.Pro 2. Pentagram
Group B: 1. eMazing Gaming 2. Amazing Gaming
Group C: 1. Ultimo 2. MeetYourMakers
Group D: 1. wNv 2. TeamGER
Group E: 1. roccat 2.CNO
Group F: 1. sYnck 2. artyk
Group G: 1. eSTRO 2. mibr
Group H: 1. emulate 2. NoA

Each team have everything to play for as a defeat will mean they are eliminated from the competition and so we can expect some thrilling and entertaining matches this weekend. The single-elimination will be played in a Best-Of-3 format, meaning each match will consist of three maps, whoever wins two maps first proceeds to the next round.

Remember, for any demos, information and full event coverage just head over to our coverage page. You can also check out the list of the group stages or single elimination stages and all the results from the last few days of matches. Also, don't forget to place bets for the chance of winning this months prizes!

The WCG Germany hasn't send a team like mouz or attax to WCG, they sended the german national team (mooN - paN - Kapio - Tixo - roman) and at SK site there is g3x, and a few days ago the whole team g3x moved to mibr, because the old mibr is playing source for at cgs now
