CS:GO confirmed at DH Valencia

The organisers behind DreamHack have announced that CS:GO will be one of the games played at the Valencia stop.

The Spanish stop on the DreamHack world tour will take place from July 18th to 21st at Feria Valencia, the same location of last year's event, which was won by Ninjas in Pyjamas.

It was in Valencia where it all started for NiP as it marked the Swedish team's first international victory in CS:GO and propelled them to embark on an unbeaten LAN run which, six months later, still lasts.

NiP won DH Valencia 2012

Even though the prizes that will be up for grabs at DreamHack Valencia are still unknown, it has been revealed that CS:GO is one of the five games that will be played at the event.

The news will be well received by the CS:GO community as it comes as a strong sign that the game could be played at the Summer and Winter DreamHack events.

Below you can find the list of games that will be played in Valencia:

  • StarCraft II
  • League of Legends
  • Counter Strike Global Offensive
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  • Super Street fighter IV Arcade Edition

obviously dreamhack summer + winter will INCLUDE csgo its not the game with the most viewers but its still enough for these tournaments.. and when we see csgo f2p we will gain even more viewrship if valve add dota2 like "watch" feature into the main menu.. and include the live stream directly on the front page to.

EDIT: Wow, I'm still kinda sick and did not re-read my comment, I meant Gaming isn't just about competitive games. It's funny though, a person saying that a "strategy" game (I know it's not really a strategy game) is easier than an FPS. I mean, LoL requires full teamwork, knowledge of all the champion's abilities , items, and there's way more tactics possible in that game than in CS:GO, it's not easier. It's easier than other moba's, that's for sure.

First of all, how you can call LoL a strategy game is simply beyond me, then please explain how there are more tactics in LoL than CS:GO? Sure you have to know the champion's abilities (which you learn in less than a week and are often similar to each other), then items, etc. you learn very quickly. In CS:GO, the freedom you're given makes the game intricate and the skill ceiling very high. You don't have that freedom in mobas, which ultimately make them easier and noob-friendly.

Sure you have to know the champion's abilities (which you learn in less than a week and are often similar to each other) There are 111 champions, each one has 4 abilities, plus over 80 items, if you add the three different lanes and all the possible roles and combinations you can do, it can be complex. In CS:GO, the freedom you're given Go A or B? Or hold one of the three spot in those bomb sites? Not to mention that the difficulty of your match is based on whatever champions the other team picks and your inability to know all of their usual strats because of the big amount of different combinations and lane swaps that a team can have. It's not like CS, where you know that at least one round they are gonna fake rush B because they have done it in the past in that map.

I have to reply, There are some valid points, but define me that how can you carry 16 round in a map alone in CSGO, its alot easier in LoL/Dota/HoN, to carry alone as i was meant to say, and the situtation about picking in lol/dota/hon, is about unpicking or making their skills useful or to counter them, And in CSGO you are just gonna unpick nip,esc gaming or VG? And what about when you are loosin 13-0 in csgo, yes you can still be abble to win it, how about dota lol or hon? In dota if Winning team is leading, lets say by 25-0 and all the tier towers are down, id said its impossible to get up from there. But as last point i have to write down is, That you cant COMPARE A MOBA AND FPS GAME; SERIOUSLY :TLDR

And in CSGO you are just gonna unpick nip,esc gaming or VG? In CS you veto their best map. In dota if Winning team is leading, lets say by 25-0 and all the tier towers are down, id said its impossible to get up from there. What you just said: CS:GO is easier, DOTA2 is harder.

Nope, in CSGO its harder to maintain the position of winning, in DOTA2 You can just go back to jungle or keep ganking, nothing hard there when enemy cant do a s*it about it.

Basically any game that works on a basis of rounds is easier both for teams and individuals. Obviously because in CS:GO the only advantage a winning team has is a lot of money in their pocket, not spent into items to have an even bigger advantage. That's what makes it easier for teams, they can screw up one round and come back the next one or two rounds after that. Once you screw up in LoL in two or three fights for example, you have little to no chances of getting back from it unless the opposing team doesn't know how to use the advantage.

I could agree that 1.6 would be some steps below those games (like really close). Mainly because there were more tactics (more boosts and tactical spots), you weren't rewarded as much per kill and you'd have to buy ammo and make decisions upon that, if you would wall spam or not etc But definitely not CS:GO. $1.5k for a knife kill, or $900 for a shotgun kill, ammo is free, almost no wall-banging etc etc

Not surprising. What I really want to see is another eSports conference like they had there last year, the one that ReDeYe moderated. I remember he said afterwards that the main thing it lacked was a lack of pro players giving their own input. Perhaps this year they'll hold it again and have a panel featuring some pro players.
