WW to grand final over Virtus.pro

Western Wolves continue their winning streak by defeating Virtus.pro 16-11 in the consolidation final of Copenhagen Games 2013 to clinch a spot in the grand final versus NiP.

Virtus.pro started off the match by rushing bombsite B on the pistol round, but both Jacob "Pimp" Winneche and Nichlas "Nille" Busk scored two kills to secure them the first round.

The Russians quickly took that lead away from them, as Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov's four huge kills on a force buy wrecked Western Wolves, with Virtus winning the next three.

First gun round saw Virtus execute a middle to B split that WW wasn't able to save, but the weapons Winneche and Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen saved allowed them to win a two-on-two the round after, cutting the deficit to 2-4.

Emil "kucher" Akhundov then opened up a round at long A with two AK47 kills, forcing the Danes on a double save round and extending Virtus.pro's lead to 7-2 early on.

Pimp's strong individual play lifts Western Wolves to another grand final

WW won the following round thanks to two frags from both Busk and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander, but Dauren "AdreN" Kystauvayev's flank through the double doors broke the Danes' money right after.

Stolyarov and Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow split the pot on round thirteen, winning Virtus their tenth and final round of the half. Solid overall defense by WW kept then in the game by keeping it close, 5-10 at half.

The Danish side split the A bombsite on the pistol round, and after two Virtus saves the game was 8-10. Wolves went onto win three more rounds uncontested, as the CIS-based squad had no answer for their attacks.

Virtus.pro finally won their first counter-terrorist round to tie it at eleven, but losing the next round broke their money altogether, and they were never able to recover, forcing three more force buys before losing 11-16.

Not one bad match, since they lost a bo3 in upper. All the players love the format, so no reason to whine.

i dont mind all the lower bracket matches to be bo1 ..i am also not vp fanboy ..but its a "lower bracket final" in which anything can happen in 1 match tbh i think bo3 gives better team in my opinion

You could definitely argue for a bo3, but it has never been seen before and probably never will. Just a shame for VP that they didn't have the juice in this match :)

I totally agree, BO3 would always be more fair, but it's just not possible in an already tight match schedule... just look at the delays we have just with this setup

Thats not the point. hpjrronaldo argues that one bad map should not decide the fate of the team. I merely point out that they played three maps and then they were out, not just one.

That is exactly my point, one bad map did decide the difference between 8K and 4k in euros But ww deserves it after their great performances recently and sponsor hardship ;) I just feel vp would have had a better shot at nip, as they played 3 maps against m last 2 events and managed 38 winrounds against NIPS 48

But, both WW and VP had the same chances. Bo3 would have been preferred, but as I mention, it has never been seen before, also there is the issue of time. Its always easy to speculate, you can also easily say that if WW vs. NiP was on dust2, WW would have made the same impact as VP, due to their recent matches on that map. All in all, VP just didn't perform against WW the second time and WW got stomped in the final :)
