Video: Interview with Fifflaren

Following Ninjas in Pyjamas' triumph at Copenhagen Games, we caught up with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson and discussed with him the team's journey in the tournament.

The Swedish team came out on top of Copenhagen Games in the early hours of Sunday following a 16-2 victory in the one-sided final against Western Wolves, this way clinching their third LAN title of 2013 after previously winning Mad Catz Vienna and TECHLABS.

It was a dream tournament for NiP, who not only extended their unbeaten run on LAN, but also had the top two players of the event, in terms of frag rating.

In this interview, Johansson talks about the final against Western Wolves, VeryGames' disappointing campaign, and also the recent improvements in own game.

No doubt about that he is a good player too but compared to the other NiP players he is low, for example Xizt is an IGL and is still better than him

he fits in their line up very well, be it chemistry or some other mystical thing which might have little to do with individual skill.

He isn't though. He brings more to the team. He always does his job and steps up when needed. They have a sick fragger/IGL in Xizt, a smart clutch player in GTR, an outstanding fragger in f0rest, and one of the best entry fraggers in Friberg. You can't have a team made up of 5 immense fraggers. Fifflaren is a steady player, he is calm and is more of a support player than anything else. The lineup is an absolute perfect fit, if they changed it around I just don't think they would be as dominant. What you have to remember is they all enjoy playing together and are all great friends, so their team spirit is always sky high because of this. An example from CS:S is when the guys who are in CPH Wolves atm were the 2nd best team in the world. Same lineup minus dupreeh plus h0lm. When h0lm left it just didn't fit, and he was never topping the score boards. He wasn't a mental fragger, he was just a steady, calm member of the team who backed up all his team mates when needed.

Agree with the most things you said but when NiP starts losing matches and tournaments ( which i dont think its gonna happen soon) the one who will get kicked most likely will be Fifflaren.

Like #148 said, why do people always resort to shuffling and kicking people in the team when they lose a tournament? It's pretty much the typical UK scene and arguably Danish scene approach to everything. Reminds me of football. 11 players on the field are playing fucking horrible all season. Manager gets the blame and is kicked. It's ridiculous. He is a good player, and good enough to be in NiP. The only reason he should be removed is if internal issues arise caused by him, which I very much doubt would happen.

Short term yea, but if he carries on playing alongside them for year after year, there won't really be a skill gap anymore between them. I see how he's realistic tho, and in a way it helps the team, but playing in people's shadows shouldn't be the norm for a player in a top team.

I agree. Sometimes it affects the player knowing that he is inferior to his other teammates which leads him to underperform. Not saying fiff does, but sometimes the tendency is for someone to underperform knowing he can be a lot dependent on his other teammates. But I guess anyone would feel the same if you're with forest anf gtr. As long as fiff does his job and is confident he can bring something "unique" to the team, I see no reason for him getting replaced. Fiff seems to be a very modest guy. Anyone always have limits, Fifflaren knows his, and it means he can have more confidence in himself. I don't think it's a lack of confidence at all from him to state that he'll never be at Get_Right's or f0rest's level, it's the opposite.

f0rest and GTR are better than anyone else right now and they were pretty much destorying 99.9% of 1.6 community so the fact that they are good, do not mean that other 1.6ers (like you) would be anything more than a pile of shit. Neo was incredible in 1.6, many even say he was the best ever. How come that doesn't show in CSGO? Being best in cs16/css doesn't mean you will be the best in CSGO

I can't understand when people only says that he is a supportplayer. I mean, he have stepped up huge with the awp and still the weapon isn't his main weapon. The second, he is a beast with rifler and one of the best pistolplayers in GO. The third, he is very smart in his playstyle and working good with xizt by making new strats.
