Anexis beat VG; k1ck third

Anexis defeated VeryGames 16-12 in their final group match at Mad Catz Birmingham, this way leapfrogging k1ck in the table.

Having lost to k1ck earlier in the day, Anexis required a victory against VeryGames to avoid finishing third in Group A, which could very well represent a quarter-final contest against Western Wolves or fnatic.

The French team had looked in great shape throughout the day, with Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom securing an impressive 98 per cent headshot ratio at one point, but they were stunned by a well-organised Anexis side.

The British team got off to a great start in the game, picking up the opening three rounds of the first half, in which they were playing on the Terrorist side. The first two gun rounds then went to VeryGames, but Anexis regained control of proceedings and racked up six rounds in a row, inspired by Daniel "RE1EASE" Mullan's great performance.

RE1EASE in great shape against VeryGames

VeryGames upped the pace in the final stages of the first half, but all they got was three rounds as the scoreboard showed 10-5 in favour of Anexis.

Things then went from bad to worse for the Frenchmen after Anexis picked up the first three rounds of the second half. However, VG refused to throw in the towel and won seven of the next eight rounds. But just when it looked like a comeback was in the making, Anexis made one final push and won the two rounds they needed to seal an impressive victory.

Lost to k1ck who were crushed by VG but won against VG ? VG and Anexis don't seem very consistent in this event either.

Not against k1ck, VG and Anexis are both far ahead of them. The difference of playing style matters only when the teams' level are about equal.

Well Anexis did better at international events than k1ck so overall they are still better. k1ck has yet to prove themselves internationally. So no, they aren't better just "because". Anyway, Anexis and VG are still doing terrible at the moment, I hope they'll step up their game in the brackets. And k1ck as well of course, but I don't expect much from them.

Wow didnt expect that. Usually its head to head and not rd? I swear each tournament is different when it comes to 3way ties...if not all 30 rounds are pld, what if one team starts ct on ct aided map and wins game by lots of rounds, that team then finishes above a team they lost too because the 2nd team had to play t on a ct sided map losing the game or winning by small margin? Isnt really fair and i thought this is why navi went 3rd at cpg and not 1st according to cpg rules but here its the opposite? Or Different scenario?

this three way tie was decided only by rounds which was kind of stupid because the right way would had been : exclude k1ck between the 3 teams because k1ck had worst r/d,and then between VG and anexis the head 2 head should prevail which would put Verygames second and anexis first, but oh well

What the hell are you talking about ? The goal of a group stage is to rank teams among themselves. The round difference (all matches) is a much better indicator of a team's performance than a head to head (one match).

Okay, but admitting they would take Head to head as well, how would it influence the results ? I mean no matter how you look at it, VG had a better round difference, but Anexis won their Head to head. How do you evaluate the head to head ? A +16 round difference ? Because if you just say they won the head to head so it's them who are first, it's the same as using only head to head (one criteria). Of course the system is not perfect, but it's not retarded. It's only the group stage anyway so there is no reason to be hateful about it.

im not hateful i just find my way to be generally more accepted because it doesnt make the placings solely on round difference(added to the fact that the games werent played in mr30 which could cause lots of problems ) in conclusion i think that it sohuld be made a general way to decide 3 way ties ,like a "law"that tournaments should follow

Well I personally don't find your way more accurate than theirs, but we'll see how tournaments resolve their ties this year. If it causes more troubles like Na'Vi at CPH then they'll of course need to find other means to settle draws.
