fnatic through after Wolves victory

fnatic have progressed to the quarter-finals of Mad Catz Birmingham following a 16-8 victory over Western Wolves on de_train_se.

After two disappointing results earlier in the day against fm-eSports TOXiC and Reason Gaming, fnatic knew they had to at least secure a draw against Western Wolves in their final group match to seal passage into the quarter-finals.

It looked like an herculean task, though, as they were about to face one of the most in-form sides of the moment, fresh off a second-place finish at Copenhagen Games.

It was Wolves who came out the brighter in the first half, taking the pistol round despite the fact that they were playing on the Terrorist side. After winning the next two anti-eco rounds, Wolves were simply outplayed by fnatic in almost every gun round, with Andreas "MODDII" Fridh's side going into the break up 10-5.

fnatic through despite rough start

Wolves knew they had to win the pistol round in the second half to be able to turn the score around, and they managed to deliver, but then fnatic showed once more their superior gun work and won the third round. From then on, it was cruise control for fnatic, who would go on to win the map 16-8.

They might have (probably) been saving some tactics, because they were already secured that #1 spot in their group.

This might be a possibility but I don't think so, saving tactics isn't going to win you another 8 rounds, and If WW had the chance to kick Fnatic out of the tournament they would've done so.

not only one game, but one map, the same amount of map that made ww "better" than virtus pro, even tough virtus pro beat ww on bo3 in normal day hours when all teams fresh and not in 2 am when all are dead tired, and virtus guys travel from far, ww from denmark now this is yoshirou_iba for you! providing argument and logic on high level. edit: i made a statement and most people are oblivious as to what im refering/hinting towards.

you said perhaps WW wanted fnatic to go through because there were danes in there, but the other team that would have gone through if they won was mostly danes aswell, so no logic assumption ^^

THEY HAD NOTHING TO PLAY FOR! What's the point showing your tactics in a game, where you have nothing to play for? The smartest thing to do, is to save the tactics and setups for playoffs?
