[POD]Cast episode six released

New episode of [POD]Cast has arrived, with SLTV StarSeries V Finals and Mad Cazt Birmingham as main topics, as well as tons of other stuff about Counter-Strike.

The show kicks off with the most obvious topic of the week, Virtus' victory over NiP in Kiev. The trio of Patrik "cArn" Sättermon, Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen and Duncan "Thorin" Shields then talk about a possible home advantage for Virtus.pro.

The hosts then start talking about Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's performance in the crunch time, and what may have an affect on its variance, before moving to other Virtus-NiP related topics.

What do the [POD]Cast hosts think about f0rest in close games?

They then go over the Mad Catz Birmingham results, talk about fnatic's CS:GO team, current top players in the game and more, before finally finishing with predictions for this coming weekend's RaidCall EMS One Finals.

Here are the approximate timestamps when the main topics come up in the one hour, twenty-four minutes and fourty-five seconds long [POD]Cast episode six:

Thooorin really impressed me in this [POD]cast, especially his focus on how competitive games should make turning the tables harder and more challenging. He relates this to CS:GO by saying pistols are almost too easy, sure they make the game exciting and liable to surprise round turns, but they also kill the brutal discipline and meta-game in a way, whereas in 1.6 save rounds required brilliance and luck to be successful. lurppis quiet as a mouse in this one imo xD

Great podcast guys! About: "0:09:49 f0rest's performance during tight games with lots of pressure." I do not think this applies to the match vs VP in the grand final. This is because several reasons. First of all I would like to point out I'm in no way want to start a 1.6 vs Source arguement or -Friberg/Fifflaren. This is just an observation which you guys haven't discussed when talking on this subject. f0rest was the best player in the NiP team in the grand final, with GeT_RiGhT and Xizt closely following. You talked about the pressure that comes with having tight games against people who can sometimes outaim you. NiP so far has not encountered this, perhaps this was the first matchup's they were playing equally skilled opponents when it mattered. What I saw was that the source players who have never been put in this pressure situation before and they started to underperform. Once they lost Inferno, Fifflaren got 5(!) Kills in 30 rounds on Dust2. The 1.6 players obviously have a TON of expierence playing the tight games in finals against VERY VERY good players. 1.6 was obviously by far the most competitive CS scene simply because it was run as main CS title for over 10 years and had the most players/teams playing it. Now what I wanted to point out is as soon as your teammate fails to get the kills he needs and underperforms, f0rest would have to overcompensate. If Fifflaren keeps getting himself killed while not fragging anyone you are basically playing 4vs5.. I think it was more of an expierence issue for the source players, getting put in the tight spot in a Grand Final. A situation they have never been in before in their CS careers. Meanwhile f0rest, GTR, Xizt have been in such a situation loads of times and were able to handle it better. I think this is one of the main reasons they lost. You can not expect f0rest to play like he usually does when he knows if he dies it'll be 3on5.

Funny, I remember fifflaren killing Dosia at dd2 cat and commentator praises him, regardles of how he sprayed most of his m4 clip to get that random headshot.

I actually wish you guys would have commentated on NiP's idiotic money management at some times. I've noticed this a lot from them in some of the online matches they've lost, but it seems to have carried over a little bit on LAN. Buying autosnipers and 2nd round shotties after losing pistol? I mean this stuff probably in the grand scheme of things are small factors in the outcome, but still to me it shows a little overconfidence or just stupidity in some situations.

autosniper is an overpowered weapon and gtr usually rapes the inner bombsite of train with it. buying a shotgun makes sense as well because pistols are too strong in cs:go at the moment and it just gives you an even better chance at winning ecos. it's the game's fault, not nip's.

Would love to know what goes through his head on a morning when he lets himself out of his front door knowing he has that dead poodle perched on his noggin' :D Looking forward to #7

lurppis talks so much shit about the competitive scene on twitter, I was expecting him to have a lot more to say since he kind of complains on something new 10 times a day.
