€11,600 2on2 tourney at DH Summer

Inferno Online Stockholm has announced that it will host a 2on2 tournament at DreamHack Summer with SEK100,000 (approximately €11,600) in cash prizes.

The tournament, sponsored by Telia and Samsung, will take place on June 17th, which is the final day of the main DH Summer CS:GO competition, with eight teams battling it out for prize - the winner will scoop the €11,600 cheque.

There will be a poll here, at HLTV.org, that will be comprised of the 13 teams who will have secured spots at DH Summer by June 5th - either through invite or qualification.

The eight teams who get the most votes from the community will then take part in this tournament with the players of their choosing. Substitutions are possible between matches, so all five players can take part in the competition.

HeatoN to cast the tournament

Counter-Strike legend Emil "HeatoN" Christensen will be casting the entire cup, live from Jönköping.

Personally I won't waste my time watching random people like you playing (if you could play in that tournament) people which are at my skill level... If you want to win that kind of money just just say goodbye to a job/education or whatever you do and start playing cs 24/7 so you can be there someday.

Wtf? Those are the exact players you do want to look on. Like Epsilon, the old Na`Vi-based lineups before Na`Vi won a tournament and so on. Watching VeryGames vs NiP sucks. It's the underdogs and the players you know yourself from playing against/with them that are fun to watch.

Nothing wrong with it, the thing that I don't like is that it's almost already decided who's gonna play. If they got money to host a 2n2 tour, they could have made a qualification for it, so everyone had a chance. If the pro's wanted the cash they'd have to sign up as everyone else.

LOL,what aim map are you dreaming? If this was a 1vs1 tournament than yes,they probably would played aim map. I'm 99% sure they will play d2,nuke,inf,train. I played manny years 2vs2 with my teammate so... Just check on youtube(if I remember RobbaN and f0rest used to play 2vs2 togheter)

Ohh.. They will not play all the map dude :d eg: dust2(just A-long and catwalk),inferno(just A-mid,alley,house),train(without ramps),nuke(no outside,you can plant in both sites). This is the way we played in 2vs2 tournaments in 1.6.

If we wanna promote CS:GO and FPS games in general, then we should start taking things more serious. A 2on2 tournament is a disgrace to what CS and FPS is about - teamwork, communication and skills. The 2on2 turney have nothing to do with the 5on5 turney. 2on2 is hosted all price money is from inferno online,Telia och Samsung.(not official turney on DH) The 5on5 turney is hosted by Dreamhack and all money is from Steelseries.( official turney on DH.) for IO,Telia and Samsung it's a Publicity Turney.

What are you talking about? It has absolutely nothing to do with it not being a part of the tournament. The issue is that CS:GO is promoted in a wrong picture by hosting 2on2 tournaments. I wouldn't promote CS:GO with 2on2 tournaments - it's not a good way to attract newcomers. I mean, it would be the same as to host a 6 vs 6 football tournament with prizes as good as in Champions League. We all know football is played 11 vs 11. And CS is played 5 vs 5. Helping eSport means to promote what's needed. I doubt that potential newcomers will find a 2 on 2 match interesting.

I've been playing 2x2 in 1.6 for a very long time, it was even mentioned when I've joined my first 5x5 team after years in cs. (hltv.org/news/6390-tao-come-to-life) So I want to advocate 2x2 a little bit :) It happened that 2on2 tourneys and 2on2 for cash @ LAN became very popular in Russia long time ago so there were 2on2 tourneys here for a very long time, more than 10 years. One important factor is that we play with some map restrictions being used only in russian community which provide some unique gameplay. Anyway, if you play regularly and your goal is to win everybody then you have to advance permanently. Playing for cash could be an extra motivator but it's not necessary. So 2on2 strategies could very deep and beautiful, I guarantee it :D 2on2 could be exciting tournament mode that provides interesting gameplay. You have to play smart to win!

This is by far the stupidest idea I've ever seen come out of Dreamhack. To whoever made this decision: It's not too late. Cancel this monstrosity and increase the prize money of the main tournament, especially further down the rankings, which will actually help teams who're struggling to participate at the highest level. This is an idiotic comment. We care about who gets the money as spectators because we have an interest in a strong competitive scene - this is what produces the games we like to watch. Giving this money to a form of the game that isn't actually played at all is not rewarding those who put in the effort to become skilled at the standard game type. This kind of thing undermines incentives to compete properly, and so weakens the scene.
