SteelSeries with new headset line

SteelSeries present a new H-Series headset line for competitive gamers which includes SteelSeries 9H, 5Hv3 and 3Hv2.

Set to be officially revealed at next week's international trade fair for computer and video game industry Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), SteelSeries present their new H-Series headset line engineered for performance with custom-enhanced sound and optimized comfort.

The H-Series line was introduced back in 2005 and today the next generation enters the door headlined by the all new SteelSeries 9H and joined by upgraded 5Hv3 and 3Hv2.

SteelSeries 9H Headset with Dolby® Technology – $159.99/€159.99

Aimed to be the best competitive gaming headset, SteelSeries 9H is equipped with an advanced USB soundcard and provides users with Dolby Technology.

Boasting a durable industrial design, the 9H will feature next-generation SteelSeries audio drivers and innovative swappable cable system with in-line audio controls for use with PC, Mac, tablets and phones. For more information about SteelSeries 9H features go here.

SteelSeries 5Hv3 Headset – $79.99/€79.99

Its predecessor, SteelSeries 5Hv2, was one of the most talked-about headsets on the tournament circuit and the new 5H now features the newest generation of SteelSeries audio drivers with a custom-engineered soundscape for clear and detailed sound without distortion. For more information about SteelSeries 5Hv3 features go here.

SteelSeries 3Hv2 Headset – $39.99/€39.99

Created for gamers who are looking to experience SteelSeries audio for the first time or without having to make a large investment, the 3Hv2 encompasses the four components that set SteelSeries audio above the rest: performance, convenience, durability and comfort. For more information about SteelSeries 3Hv2 features go here.

The 5Hv3 and 3Hv2 headsets will be available starting this summer, while 9H is coming in the fall. For more details about the new headsets, visit http://steelseries.com/h-series.

to be honest yes dude we all know that in terms of audio quality steelseries is not the best brand for headsets but for GAMING AUDIO yes they are indeed at the top... I can't count how many times i have been able to win a round for good space awareness thanks to their incredible positional 3D sound... For any other uses rather than gaming I'd just stick with Sennheiser :)

Might be the headset, but I understand his point. The sound accuracy/positioning seems to differ quite a bit from 1.6 (and maybe even Source, but I haven't played that enough to judge it).

there's nothing new in it, it's a common feature on SS headsets (my 5hv2 had it in 2008 and the siberia that's lying on the shelf next to me also has a retractable mic)

that's not the point. For the quality presented the 40$ ones are expensive too. I'd rather buy the 5H than the 3H, but for with the money i'll spend on them, i'd buy a sennheiser headset, wich are much better. That's why i consider them expensive. Chill out fanboy, it's just my opinion, you don't need to have a rage atack.

Well, not everything that is new and a new technology is better than a previous one, and i consider them expensive too. If i had to buy a headset, well i would buy senheiser, at, not crap like ss, razer and so on which are rebranded and overpriced pieces.

Love the guys who don't say a single word about how Sennheiser is overpriced (PC350 180€, yes you read it correctly) but stomp ss, razer etc. how shit and expensive they are. Well they don't got over half a million likes on fb for free f.i. Almost everyone in this thread who is strictly against ss, razer, zowie etc. are just little faggots who brake their gear after couple of days therefor they cry a river in specific threads. I got my gear almost for a year and I hadn't GOT A SINGLE problem.

Don't know about what you are talking about braking the gear, because i do care about them and i had a mouse for 6 years, a headset for 4 years, and still i know how crappy they are. Just because after 8 months of usage my headset's volume control went crazy and i could hear only from one side. What would you choose between a 180e sennheiser or 160 steelseries? Let's be honest, what are steelseries and maybe other gaming gear competitors doing is using the great pieces from real audio companies and make it more "gaming". Take an example the qpad headset, alienware desktops and so on. Haven't you noticed this?

Steelseries has never released headphones worth its price. There are ALWAYS better, cheaper alternatives. Price:performance ratio for all steelseries headphones ares very poor.

When I watch 360p 1.6 demos on my smartphone with headphones I got for free at the hospital I have a better sense of sound than when playing CS:GO on my computer with a sennheiser PC350. When I switch to HD on my smartphone the soundscape feels even more realistic than it does in GO. With how bad the sound works in the game, you actually want to have a low quality headset, so that you don't have to hear the distinctive sound of a plane flying directly above your head at all times (these ambient noises man) or the sound of someone walking where there isn't anyone or that you don't have to rely on the poor directional sound so much. Granted, it's not all that bad. But before manufacturers like SteelSteries try and convince CS players to pay $ 160 for a headset, they should encourage VALVe to make "sound" an actual aspect of the game. Until then, I'm better off listening to music and watching the radar, as that is much more efficient than having to put up with the poor stereo and overall poor quality, randomness and bugs of CS:GO's sound system. What I noticed strangely is that resetting your config (deleting it before launching CS) actually makes the game sound more full and satisfying for a certain time. Then it gets dulled down after a while again.

Refreshed 5Hv2 without better design and plastic, no thanks. Bad: i.imgur.com/nxB22FO.png - material on sponge head will wear off in few months. - plastic on side will break in few months. Good: - changed the sponge ears with better quality, - swappable cable system, - improved cable near jacks cdn-co.steelseries.com/wp-content/upload.. ,but still I think it will break in few months. - improved in-line controls Of course 5Hv3 is better than 5hv2 but still worse than Siberia v2. They should improve 7H instead of outdated 5Hv2 and price of 7H should be the same like for 5Hv3.

I have SS 7H... Yesterday I was playing some random game and the left earphone spontaneously just fucking fell off. Like that. Just bang and it was on the floor. Right side of the headset was always problematic as well and it stopped working completely few days ago... I am done with SS headsets for good. No way I am ever going to buy them again.

Fuck SS

Kidding me? They are made of cheap plastic material which isn't very durable. 7H fnatic broke up when I normally tried to put them on my ears. The left earcup's plastic holders just cracked. Used them for like 8 months. 6Gv2's left ctrl, ss button and alt broke up when I spilled some water on the keyboard accidentally. Also almost all the lettermarks have worn out. And then two weeks ago it started to switch off and on by itself for every 5 minutes.

That's why keyboards are usually made so water or any other liquid can't get a touch with the electronics. However, steelseries haven't thought about this little and insignificant thing and decided to add some stupid holes next to the button bases so all liquids can get inside the keyboard case and touch the electronics. And btw, I have spilled coke, milk, water and many other liquids and multiple times on my old Logitech G15 and every button still works. Can't even talk about these two manufacturers on the same day.

Lol. "7H fnatic broke up when I normally tried to put them on my ears" You either throwed it 5 times outta a window or you got it from an indian. My Siberias underwent hardcore use and fell from my desk a couple of times. It's the same when I bought it 8 months ago. Strange isn't it?

Of course I'm hating because I've bought their products and they have all broke up? Can't be about how I use them cuz I used my Logitech G15 from 2006 to 2012 and it's still working completely fine. I also have Sennheiser HD 555 headphones which I bought in 2009 and have used them since then (except a short period with 7H fnatic until they broke up). They are still in pretty good shape.

I was just on the verge of purchasing the Siberia V2 Frost, purely for the upgraded audio quality and mic, but now I'm considering waiting for E3 to see the 9H quality being compared. We'll see.

I really like the idea of the retractable microphone. Is it new or was it done before on other models/brands ?
