Groups for 2on2 tourney drawn

The groups for the 2on2 tournament at DreamHack Summer 2013 have been drawn and it has been revealed that the action will start after the grand final of the main tournament tomorrow.

Inferno Online, Telia and Samsung have teamed up to host a 100,000 SEK (around $15,500) 2on2 tournament for the professional teams attending the main CS:GO event. A vote was organized on our website and the 8 teams with the most votes will have a chance to send their members to fight for the winner-takes-all prize.

Here is what the groups will look like:

Group A Group B
Poland ESC Gaming Sweden NiP
Russia Virtus.pro Denmark Western Wolves
Denmark CPH Wolves Denmark fnatic
United States Curse France LDLC.com

The matches will be played in MR12 mode (12 rounds in a half, first to 13 wins), regular group stage format will be used and the top two teams will advance to the semi-final.

The teams are allowed to use any of their five members and they can make substitutions between matches if they want, although it's expected that most will use the same pair, or at most trio, throughout the tournament.

2on2 tournament will be held at the Telia booth

Emil "HeatoN" Christensen and the tournament's host Fabian "blomstar" Åkermark will be casting the event, and we will of course feature the stream and GOTV IPs on our match pages.

The action is scheduled to start around 20:00 tomorrow, after the grand final of the DreamHack SteelSeries CS:GO Championship.

I played over 10.000 2vs2 games in 1.6 (i dunno the exact number but i would make a bet of my house on the fact that I'm in the top10 of most played 2vs2's) :P me and a mate got first in ESL 2vs2.eu undefeated with 126-11-0 stats (which is the highest competition for 2n2 at the time of 1.6). And trust me we had to beat die-hard cheaters too. I know everything you need to know in 2vs2 de_aztec & de_nuke. BUT I simply don't see a future for 2vs2 in CSGO. Aztec is ruined.. and unplayable.. especially since the thunder on the bridge + stairs got removed. And nuke is ruined (for 2n2) too because of the huge crates on A, the new route outside that makes it very easy to slip trough as terrorist. 2vs2 in CSGO is more like the early days of ESL when you had to play train, inferno, dust2 etc. aswell when the enemy didnt agree to play aztec/nuke/prodigy: its do-able but it's more of a very strange 5v5 then a real 2v2. People that loved 2vs2 in 1.6 know that what i say is true: aztec & prodigy were very good maps for 2n2 only. that was what made it fun. PS. no hate on CSGO. or 'wanting 1.6 back' here.. just a comment.

I played also 2vs2 for manny years and I'm agreed with you. Nuke was definetely the best map for 2vs2 in 1.6,but in GO I don't think this is gonna work but we will see tonight.
