NiP over CPH Wolves to meet Virtus

Ninjas in Pyjamas have overcome a tough test against Copenhagen Wolves in the quarter-final of DreamHack Summer 2013 with a 2-1 score (14-16 on de_inferno_se, 16-3 on de_mirage_ce and 16-10 on de_dust2_se), while Virtus.pro beat Lemondogs 2-0 (16-14 on de_mirage_ce & 16-3 on de_dust2_se), so coming up is the semi-final between the Swedish giants and the CIS squad.

After their recent struggles, NiP entered their quarter-final against Copenhagen Wolves as minor favorites at best, coming from a second place finish in Group A and an insecure performance in the grand final of Swedish Championship last night.

The first map of the clash was de_inferno_se where the Danes took the early 3-0 lead but quickly fell behind and lost their T side 5-10. NiP increased their lead to 12-5, but a famas buy in the third round paid off for Cph Wolves and sparked their comeback.

After winning 9 of the next 10 rounds, the Wolves found themselves up 14-13, but NiP equalized the score right away. With only two rounds to go, the team with more composure turned out being Copenhagen Wolves as they notched the final two rounds to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Copenhagen Wolves gave a solid account of themselves

On de_mirage_ce the wounded NiP squad came back with a vengeance and despite losing their CT pistol, they pulled off a third round buy which began their 11 round winning streak. After splitting the last couple of rounds, the Swedes quickly brought the map to a close with a 16-3 score and moved the match onto de_dust2_se.

The deciding map kicked off with Cph Wolves on the offensive side and the match went into back-and-forth mode for the entire first half with the Danes edging it out 8-7. Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's 4-kill glock round brought the score to 8-8, but another early buy surprised the Swedes and they didn't get the expected advantage from it, instead dropping the round for 9-9.

However, Cph Wolves ran out of steam and couldn't find a way to stop NiP, who went on to win 16-10 with the last round featuring an ace by René "cajunb" Borg but not enough time to complete the defuse.

In the other semi-final Virtus.pro took care of Lemondogs, where first map de_mirage_ce came down to the wire as the Swedes almost made a comeback from a 4-11 deficit at the half. They equalized the score on two occasions, at 12-12 and 13-13, but they couldn't catch a break against the Russian-Ukrainian-Slovakian mixture who went on to win 16-14.

The second map was de_dust2_se and compared to the first it turned out being a disappointment as Virtus.pro never gave Lemondogs a chance, taking a 16-3 victory.

all 3 Danish teams kicked out by Swedish teams. don't you feel stupid after making all these threads about how superior the Danish teams are?

ul CPH, dust2 was a good shout, just a few crucial moments let you guys down. NiP are still struggling, which makes this match up even more interesting than it is.

They did well, all credit to them they took a map and had a pretty decent third map. Judging by this tournament, I expect great tournaments to come in the future. EDIT: Especially since NiP just became a bit more "beatable" for other teams, they wouldn't have so much pressure as they used to.

...yep, sad to see both Denmark top teams WW/CPH out of the tournament, I did expect one of those two in TOP 3 of the event, but not gonna happen :( Would be happy to see wether Epsilon or LDLC in TOP 3 and obviously thats what's going to happen... ...so far the event is looking g00D!

Virtus.pro doing quite good - expect them to finish top3. And Guardian handled pressure (in most of their matches, cameraman only showed his facial expression) really well - best AWPer so far in this tournament.
