CS:GO update adjusts smokes, maps

Valve has released an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which reduces smoke size, improves visibility on a few maps and makes a few changes to de_inferno_se.

The update comes at a questionable time with SLTV StarSeries VI finals kicking off in just a couple of hours time, which means NiP and Na`Vi, who play in the first match, will barely have any time to adjust to the changes.

Most notable change is the reduced smoke size, no more allowing you to e.g. smoke on top of the hut on de_nuke_se and block all visibility inside of it. Minor changes were also made to the Sig and Aug rifles.


CS:GO receives a well needed update to reduce smoke size 

GOTV spectators sometimes getting a round radar no longer occurs, X-ray now shows grenade trajectories and flashes are no longer shown on GOTV, instead showing an icon to imply a player has been flashed.

The A hallway on de_inferno_se has been widened, car changed into a brick wall and couch moved a little. B platform of de_dust2_se has also been modified. Full patch notes below:

[ MISC ]

- Playing a demo recorded on a workshop map will attempt to automatically download and display that workshop map.
- Added a convar cl_download_demoplayer to control whether demo player is allowed to download external resources, defaults to 1 allowing downloads from workshop, allows 2 for downloading all other external resources that could be referenced by community server.
- Added engine support for versioning official maps, so demo playback will seamlessly download and load matching version of the map when playing back older demos. ( Currently supports Nuke, Inferno, Dust2 )
- Fixed rare crashes in HUD when game events were received before HUD elements were fully loaded.

[ GAMEPLAY ]

- Additional minor buffs to the Aug and Sig.
- Smoke grenades have been adjusted to make their view-obscuring overlay match the smoke volume shape more precisely as well as some other minor fixes.

[ SPECTATING ]

- Spectating a flashed player via GOTV now shows an additional effect and icon to indicate blindness without obscuring the spectators view.
- Fixed a case where GOTV spectator would get the round radar template instead of the square one.
- Grenade trajectories are now on by default in spectator x-ray view. Convar sv_grenade_trajectory_time_spectator will adjust visible trail duration.

[ MAPS ]

- Made a pass at incorporating some lessons learned from Mirage to original maps. Also, bug fixes.

De_Inferno:
- Widened apartment hallway near A
- Replaced red car in middle with solid cover
- Fixed radar naming on haycart
- Improved visibility

De_Nuke:
- Added radar names
- Bug fixes
- Improved visibility

De_Dust2:
- Improved visibility
- Bug fixes

De_Aztec:
- Improved visibility

De_Train:
- Improved visibility

Nice, the smoke was really op and slowed the game down a shitload making it impossible to go on offense on certian areas when laid correctly, hopefully this will balance it slightly.

Now regular maps looks great and there is no big fog now you can clearly see enemy from long distance! I wish they play on regular maps now because _se maps are outdated and not suported by Valve anymore :)

the changes on inferno are nice but they should have just deleted the cover down middle. there is already a barrel and a corner. also they should just remove the fucking backyard or at least remove the fence. that's one of the most annoying things on that map. on their version of mirage they said they took care that the player-models always stay visible, while on inferno there is a fucking fence..

they probably don't know how the competitive players are going to react to these changes and just use the normal maps as a testing ground. you wouldn't be glad to see maps getting changed without any notice two days prior to some LAN :p

- pistols are fine (all maps are CT biased anyway, why not give T's a slight advantage) - "fix recoil"? there is nothing broken about it, it is just very hard to master. and besides, who wants more sprayers? - Autosniper dmg to leggs should be reduced, otherwise it is fine. - p90: I don't like it either, ppl running and jumping still beeing able to hit. but it is expensive, does not have much armor penetration and no extra kill reward. sounds balanced to me... plus, no pro has ever complained p90 was too strong...

I think the P90 is really broken I think the pros don't complain about it because the other pros don't use it and they never get to play against a p90. The p90 has less armor pen but has a high fire rate and that's what makes it strong. But I agree with you in the other things :)

well the p90 is a tough one: due to it's high accuracy while running it is very strong on low- to midlevel play. so MM games are really affected by this. In Pro Games, a headshot HAS to do significant damage, or you're dead yourself. thats why pros don't use and ergo don't complain about p90. To Sum up: reduce the accuracy while moving/jumping/running and I'm fine with it =)

Is that a P90 supporter I see? No. It should not be nerfed, and that's not even a fair comparison. P90 is a pray and spray machine, that could easily take out any AK at close to mid range, provided they keep moving, whilst the opponent stays still and aims for the moving HS

- Pistols aren't fine, the P2000 I actually think is okay, the glock needs damage nerfed over distance, the p250 needs to more expensive, the deagle needs a complete overhaul. - Recoil is preference, I don't really find it too bad. - P90 is incredibly overpowered in MM, it wouldn't be so bad if the aimpunch wasn't as prevalent with it.

the thing is he tried to say that the slight advantage on pistol rounds for t is okay cause the maps are usually ct biased anyway.. gives a chance for t's to build up a few rounds in the start of nuke as an example. I'm all the way with #120's points on the pistols.

Ok, wether you consider aim punch a part of recoil or not, the randomness it gives to the recoil doesn't make it competitive, rather more casual. I believe that a cmopetitive game has to be as more mathematical as possible. That randomness from aim punch make your bullets kinda lucky if they hit an enemy.

Remove the _se maps and make the standard maps the maps without fog, chickens, flowers etc. Make the smoke like it was in 1.6/Old Source ( Before 2010 ) and a movement update. I really like the changes they made tho, the mapchanges are huge for MM. As you can get an easier entry onto a player behind the HS box on B. The appa update on inf reminds me of 1.6 and I really like that as you can dodge something easier and the CT's can't make an easy 5k spraydown if you rush it. The smoke update is good I think it has to be updated a bit as I mentioned. Great work till now, keep it going!

thanks for the info! that is so dumb...i really fail to see the point of the map update then. only people who play those maps are casual players who won't probably even notice the difference. where it really matters is in the _se maps. unless they plan to fix the "normal" maps (remove clutter and chickens...)

For me Deagle is just meh, Five-Seven and P250 are much better even against an armored opponent (because of my low aim and very fast strafing in CSGO probably). And I notice that pro players find a use for Deagle and buy it not so rare as we can expect. For example, Tec-9 is almost never used on competitive scene. Yeah, I enjoyed Deagle in 1.6 too, but in this game I want to see every weapon being used sometimes in particular situations.

Well the Deagle now only really has one purpose. It probably the best pistol to hold a angle with, but you really only have one shot. But as CT that can be enough if you all get one kill :p

NEW SMOKE BUG: since noone has posted this yet, here it is: youtube.com/watch?v=slnU8Wq4umc there appears to be a bug, when you extinguish a molotov with smoke. the smoke will fade away after 15 sec - but when you go to the spot where the smoke used to be, you will suddenly stand in a cloud of smoke. Needs an urgent fix!

As far as I know it seems to be impossible to bunnyhop normally right now, the only thing that seems to increase your speed is the crouch-bunnyhop. It would be much appreciated if they made it possible to bunnyhop normally as in 1.6 and source. I don't see any reasons why they shouldn't fix it since it's been available in both previous versions of CS. ONT: Good update, especially to inferno. Would also like to see updates on nuke-lobby and dust2-dark where they completely delete everything that you can get stuck in, examples on this is boxes randomly spread on the floor.

the second example I completely disagree with. It is indeed very usefull, you can move behind it, seek cover, surprise enemies, dodge flashes etc. you can also take this point to spot t-base and not expose yourself. so to me this is a good pole, adding variety to your b-tunnels playstyle.

I like the new smoke, that is deffo an improvement. Not sure if the brick wall instead of a red car on inferno mid was completely needed tbh but the hallway in apps in nice - however the angles are now slightly different for spotting, so be curious to see how the angles affect the peeping problem with angles & how much an apps rush from Ts will change, especially VeryGames almost flawless smoke onto truck apps push now the smoke is less powerful! That one strat use to win them rounds everytime :o

I don't care about those Updates until a acceptable Point. Maybe I'll touch the Game for real in a few months again so soon it's worth it. In this Time I will play pro mod, 1.6, source or even tactical intervention. i dont have high hopes for csgo because those drastic changes that are needed to change the game completely in a really cool way, will probably never happen. i don't even like that game graphically and it has the most static movement feeling of all cs parts that reminds me on Chess. weapons are messed up too.

Autosnipers have never been a real part of competitive CS, banned in 1.6, source(don't know never played competitive) so I really don't like them..I think they should be slightly nerfed in terms of recoil (you can basicly spray with T autosnip and still be accurate).

They weren't banned in Source. I really don't see why you want to nerf them. They're fucking expensive, so they're allowed to be strong. It's a gamble, if you die with an autosniper, you won't have a lot of money in the following two rounds.

Awp is also expensive and they nerfed him...I just never thought autosnip to be part of competitive cs as they are so noob friendly, you actually need zero skill to play relativly good with..I mean it's a diffrent story with pro teams, they have good timed smokes and flashes so it's not so op but in MM when someone "good" takes that weapon it's really hard to play. And being so expensive only the winning team can afford it and win even more. That's just my opinion, I know there are bigger issues in this game so I don't really expect anything to be done.

- adjust glock and/or p2k - put _se maps in mm - change bomb timer to 35 in mm - add cache and season to mm (the community has made an AMAZING cache using new tileset, just add that, please dont go doing another de_mirage) - add competitive mirage to mm - make it so you can still rejoin if you leave mm for over whatever timelimit it is at. - add a feature to search for players when one leaves mm - remove playbackspeed thing for overwatch (you can skip the whole review and just submit w/e u want) - silencer - fix the awp (various videos showing how broken it is) - fix the players warping around corners - improve deagle slightly more so its genuine option - communicate more with the community about some of the above changes we want, ie, whether you will ever change them or what your dev teams stance is on it. You may aswell just tell us rather then us speculating and wondering for years. - fps commands - reload bug (just with m4?) - try to sort out the adad, but without breaking the game plez - 128 tick - consider making changes to aimpunch - consider adjusting HE damage or how it applies its damage when it blows up. *its getting to be quite a long list now lmao :/

guys i think this update causes massive lags randomly,i have a very powerfull pc and i never had fps under 250 but now whith this update it randomly goes under 50,i guess valve wont be famous for fixing things anytime soon.
