Prague Challenge group draw

The group stage for the €10,000 tournament held in Czech Republic's capital city has just been drawn. Twelve original teams joined by eight local ones were drawn into four groups of five.

Before the group draw began, a total of eight local teams joined the list, as /10/ were not able to come to the event due to sponsorship problems. GUNRUNNERS, FU.SK and eEriness are three of the most notable local teams.

Natus Vincere, Anexis, Nostalgie and nEophyte were given the highest seed, while eight mid-seeded teams and eight low-seeded teams were drawn to them randomly on the DISTRICT.Prague stream.

The winners of the groups will proceed directly to the quarter-finals, while second and third proceed to the relegation stage. Since there are 20 teams instead of the originally expected 12, the schedule slightly changed, and looks as follows:

Saturday, July 13th

10:00 Group A & B starts
15:00 Group A & B ends
16:00 Group C & D starts
21:00 Group C & D ends

Sunday, July 14th

10:00 Relegation stage
13:00 Quarter-finals
16:00 Semi-finals
19:00 Grand final + third place decider

Anders "Anders" Blume and Duncan "Thorin" Shields will be casting the event on the english stream live on-site, while E-Frag and StarLadderTV are the official Balkan and Russian streams.

Lineup for teams, well maybe not NaVi and Anexis and Nostalgie, but rest. OT, Will be nice to see thorin cast since he bashed basicly ALL existing casters in the latest episode of POD cast.

How high was the fee to sign up because so many local teams are there now?

fee was about 350 euros ... but DISTRICT sponsored 8 local teams and they have to pay only about 60 euros to attend so its very nice from them that they support local community to make this event better

Definitely. I also hate that tournaments often restrict the maximum to like 8. At least 16 if not even 32. Especially local teams get the chance and the experience then.

Exactly. 32 would be nice. Out of those 32 teams most of the locals would most likely not stand a chance BUT they would have a chance to shine and make the interest in their country get bigger. I am all for this, i really am!

I don't think that Duncan said what he did with the intention of ruining a show just for the sake of it.. Rather the opposite. I did watch the whole podcast and I was laughing when he talked about shutting down the play-by-play caster and saying "no you're wrong, stop talking.." I am confident we'll find a good balance, as I've tried to express earlier, I am still learning and I'd be an idiot not to listen to the combined experience of Thoorin cArn and Lurppis. So don't worry, it'll be good =)

Same, I practically had tears in my eyes watching that bit. I was merely joking but Thorin did bring up a legitimate point. GF Gaming are like top3 (?) in Poland and both eE and FU are like top4 in Czech (with nEophyte and Gunrunners imo) same as both they aren't in full team roster

I think NaVi will win. They have great form right now and almost no strong opponent here. And I doubt Anexis can beat them. Nostalgie could surprise, but they are just a mix. :)
