Video: New movement values

ESEA have in co-operation with Heffrey "godFrey" Brauer and Luis "M0rD0cK" Chaveiro created a video to demonstrate the effects of their new suggested movement values.

The duo originally published their suggested new values for movement in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but ESEA News have now helped them compile a video to further demonstrate their effects.

I tried it out. It felt good actually. Is it just me that thinks the new recoil change is a bit weird when spraying? I liked how 1.6 worked. Even though spraying could go everywhere if you weren't skilled' it was still possible to do some good 5 man spraydowns.

in 1.6 you could actually do 5man spraydown easily if they are stacked like B banana but in csgo it sometimes feels like u can kill 2-3 max and recoil fucks you up !

dude I know :D It's not cause of the hitboxes, it's the recoil that makes spraying 5man down very tough. And actually that part sometimes may be frustrating but atleast you can't see 1 guy shutting the whole team down now that often! Now you need even more skill, and when tagging is added you can 4sure show how good u are 1v5 =D

nope. in fact most hitboxes are a bit bigger in GO. the 1.6 models are about 30% smaller than the GO models. so if you compare them in pictures it looks like the hitboxes in 1.6 are bigger, but if you bring the models on the actual scale, the GO boxes are a bit smaller. anyway: people don't fail to spray down because of the hitboxes. that's bullshit. it's the stupid aimpunch and the missing tagging that make people struggle.

Same, and I feel awp will be overpowered with these new settings, it will be so easy to hold off an angle... Airaccelerate should be increased a lot more, and I think they should keep the friction and accelerate at the values they have now. It's fun to be able to peak/strafe around fast :)

Well said, I agree. As I said it before if valve change the accel and friction it will fuck up the game balance..the awp and the autosnipers will be too OP because u cannot win a battle against an autosniper with this slow movement...also with some guns the movement is extremly slow like some shotguns so the players will not pick up those weapons...I think if valve apply those values it would be 2 steps back because they will need to fix 20 other things to get back the game and the weapon balance. So IMO airaccel ok change it..but dont touch the accel and friction..

Nah, its good with this value. Shotgun OP, and you're saying the awp and autosnipers will be too OP? That is just bullshit, first of all the game gets more competitive and more tactical, the second thing is the awper himself will also move slow after missing/killing because in most scenarios the awper needs to repositionate himself.

yeah its really tactical to buy an autosniper and just hold the angle because with this slow accel u will lost most of the battles against a player with autosniper.. The peaking is too slow and the autosniper..even a decent sniper will shot u down faster then u can shot one bullet..Also if someone hit u it slows u down but with this accel its just impossible to get behind the corner to safe.. I think those values will create more problems than we have now with go

if the attacker peeked with the current values, yeah they're a little bit faster, but at any skill, the awper should still kill him, it's not like you don't ever see awper's holding angles successfully atm...

I really like to play with the awp but I think with the new values it will be too easy to hold angles..even a total noob will hit the shot on the peaker,,,but whatever.. u think those values are great and everything will be fine when valve implement them into the game...and I think that those values will fuck up many things in the game..I will be happy if your opinion became true but now Im really afraid...The time will show :)

My point is not about max speed..but the accel..your accel is slower with shoutguns then with the pistols or other weapons..so when you peak out with the shoutgun they will catch you too easily and also its hard to get to safe after a missed shot with this accel. Thats why I think players will not buy shoutguns

you love using ADADAD and enjoy winning every tournament. with these changes it will hinder you're individual play style and NiP as a whole due to the indirect AWP buff which results in the effectiveness of rifle centric teams being nerfed even more on top of the original ADADA nerf. but you should probably accept this change is for the greater good of the game and realize that you not winning an event or two will increase competition and interest in csgo. /rant

So this exercise is entirely counter-productive? People have taken the initiative to bring forward a range of values, altering movement, and so far the vast majority seem to have taken a liking to it. If you don't consider this to be a change that will only better the over all experience of the game then I don't know what to say to you.

Tested this values and there are my thoughts: 1. Holding angles with AWP become much easier. I mean now AWP is really danger stuff in defense(CT). That means when you play as attack(T) you have to become more strategic by trying to avoid .338 Lapua Magnum in your ass or head(*there should be joke about the ass instead of the head at some people*). 2. Peeking with AWP become little harder but still possible. Bcuz you have less acceleration to fast peek-crouch-shoot. Dunno how it will work in 5on5 game(didn't see difference @DM). 3. Gunfights are more skillful. You have to play much more safe but not get in gunfight alone versus 2 and more enemies. 4. Pistol rounds become lil easier for CT-side bcuz of tagging. Now you can't just 5-people-rush at same place that easy. That's it for now. :)

It would affect basically everyone playing the game. Not sure how it feels, haven't tried it yet, but wouldn't it change the gameplay too much? It makes sense do to little adjustments, but changing the style of play so drastically is not the best idea.

To me personally the game became more appealing, when the agressive playstyle started to pay off more than in 1.6. Not a huge fan of these (possible) changes. I'm not the biggest sprayer in the world, but I like the possibility of peeking and not being shut down by the AWP or any other gun holding an angle for that matter.

Ofcourse nobody likes to be shut down by someone holding an angle, however this is where the more strategic approach comes in. There is a reason why you have smokes and flashes, its to prevent things like that from happening, getting shut down by an awp that is :)

The developers wanted to make the game faster, which they succeeded in I think, these changes would just make it a lot slower, because the first fragger's job would be so much harder. I just don't see it being good in any way to change a game so drastically after a year of tournaments, it's not very good for eSports.

I get what you're saying, however these are NOT drastic changes - They are slight adjustments. You can still peek, you just cant exploit it. Counter-Strike has always been a tactical shooter and not a fast paced one. These changes will make the game more tactical. And I personally dont think they have had success with the increased acceleration.

I'm not talking about acceleration, I'm talking about the gameplay in general (nerfing molotovs etc.). Define "exploit" then - I mean, did the people in 1.6 "exploit" holding an angle as well? It just seems that the advantage was moved the other way around, that's basically it. Btw. again, I haven't tried it, I'm criticising the general idea.

I think what you're not understanding is that right now in GO, there is always an advantage to the person who is peeking. It doesn't matter if the person is peeking an awper who is miles away, the person who peeks first has that first shot opportunity due to the peeker's advantage. Balancing it out means that it is now fair for people who are holding angles, giving them a fair chance of winning that battle. It isn't about destroying the ability to out-peek someone in CSGO; it's about finding the balance between the two.

hey yo (im hers from steamforums), uhm have you talked to valve about other things like making bhoping viable and increased tagging? because yeah the movement values are good but it will be slower and you wont have a chance at all to fight back if you are locked or tagged by the opponent. In 1.6 if we did a fail a quick long jump could give you a 1-2 seconds chance to fight back. it is a factor that should be addressed along with movement values. you can pm me if you don't want to answer me in public

I didn't like it, I doubt that the people that say "CSGO DEADENED" will switch games just because of it. Thats how the game will be affected by those changes, if Valve make them official: - AWP will be OP again. - Jumping will feel unrealistic and loose. - The game will be slower, and aiming will be easier overall. i like that the peeker's advantage is removed/reduced with these values. but i don't like how it feels like skating. i can play nhl 13 if i want to play a skating game. with these values i have less control. when i go right and decide to go left it still goes right (slides) for a while. i don't need ADADAD spam but crisp & responsive movement is important to me. tagging is welcomed though

1. I prefer these values over the current ones! 2. I prefer 4/5 over the ones suggested. The arguments why the acceleration should be even lower than in CSS and 1.6 are flawed: - Yes, 1.6 has smaller models BUT the maps got almost the same proportion in GO compared to 1.6/CSS (the distances are almost identical). And this is the only important thing here. - All jumps that are possible with your values are also possible with 4/5. At least I haven't found any jump that doesn't work anymore. And even if such a jump exists: You should create the maps around the movement, and not vice versa. Why I prefer the 1.6/CSS values over your values: The acceleration is already low enough in 1.6/CSS. In 1.6 we even had to use double-duck to peak faster. I don't like having a even slower acceleration without having the option of double-ducking. While 4/5 (CSS/1.6) takes the same time to reach full speed like the current GO values, your values take more time to reach full speed. Also this would be a good compromise between the current values and your values. Anyway: Your values > the current values.

After i tried the new movement settings i would firmly say that if it was in the game i would never look back. I find that peaking around corners are too fast atm and the new settings are heaps better for many reaons eg. ADAD spam, Peakers advantage and few other ones. Reducing it just makes movement feel more smooth in CSGO.

Just tested with them against bots, seem miles better. I wouldn't mind more air acceleration/control though, but as far as being able to peak & fall back into angles goes, it's MILES better. Need somewhere to play mixes with these settings.

World headache-
the only problem is if u hold a corner as ct u have an advantage in 1,6 but now the running terror has this advantage. They need to fix this. Thats why this game is soo random. U cant play more tactical beacuse someone running through the map has the advantage

#276 he doesnt, only if u cant aim or have any reactions :) 2 out of 10 tries, maby the runner have some luck. I shouldnt call it advantage. Take a look at any good team/players, nobody almost never runs. And if they do, they get sprayed down or aimed ;) like i said, for me it doesnt mather, i just dont want anybody 2 bunnyjump and/or stop when i jump
