ATE Gaming invited to ESWC

The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) officials have announced that ATE Gaming have been invited to attend this year's finals.

The 2013 edition of the ESWC finals will take place from October 30th to November 3rd at Porte de Versailles in Paris, with CS:GO being one of the games that will be played at the event, in two different tournaments: one for male and one for female teams.

In addition to last year's winner, Ninjas in Pyjamas, the male tournament will feature 12 sides who come from national qualifiers and three teams who are directly invited by the event organisers.

It has now been confirmed that ATE Gaming are the first team to have secured a wildcard into the event, meaning that there are only two places left for teams from countries that do not organise qualifiers.

ahahaha WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ESWC??? When I heard there are 3 Wildcards for teams from countries without a qualifier I was thinking about Ukrainian, Russian, Swedish, Polish, Chinese, Finish and Brazilian teams. This news means the chance is high we will not see another Sewdish team beside NiP (no Fnatic, no Lemondogs, no n!faculty), or Astana Dragons, or the new Polish team with neo, or the new Navi, or TyLoo from China or a good Brazilian team.

There is no national qualifier for teams from Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, China, Brazil, Finland,... There's only 1 European qualifier for teams from countries like Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Finland. And only two Wildcards left (after ATE got one). I was hoping to finally see TyLoo or a good Brazillian team... I don't have anything against ATE gaming. It just reduces my interest if there won't be teams like fnatic, Astana Dragons, etc.

"And only two Wildcards left (after ATE got one). I was hoping to finally see TyLoo or a good Brazillian team..." you know that these teams have to pay the travel cost for themselves. I don't see TyLoo or someone from Brazil having that much money to cover the trip, unless some rich man would step in.

In the past we saw a lot of Brazilian teams playing on events in Europe. And we also saw Chinese teams playing in Europe. Afaik TyLoo should have enough money, they got some good sponsors (Asus, Steelseries,..) and in 2012 they won events with more prize money than any GO event had so far. So you're telling me it's easier and more profitable for amateur teams from Algeria, Pakistan and India than for pro teams from China and Brazil with a lot of fans and followers? edit: Are you 100% sure about the travel-cost? So what happens if a team wins the Algerian or Pakistani qualifier but can't afford to travel to Europe? Are there even teams with enough income in these countries? Or is it only the invited teams who have to pay the travel costs themselves? I'm pretty sure teams like Astana Dragons, n!faculty, Navi, Lemondogs and CPH/WW could afford a travel to Paris..

forget what happen in 1.6. GO scene is nowhere the same, with less big tournaments and prize money. TyLoo are winning money from CS:O (or whatever that game is called), so organization probably is okay with that. As for Brazilians, there is almost no GO tournaments at all. So why rich people or bigger organizations should invest into them ? Just to send to 1-2 international tournament in a year ? As for Algeria & Pakistan, those country's paid ESWC license to host a ESWC qualifier (which apparently Brazil couldn't).

"As for Brazilians, there is almost no GO tournaments at all. So why rich people or bigger organizations should invest into them ? Just to send to 1-2 international tournament in a year ?" Are there big GO tournaments in India, Pakistan or Algeria? Why should anyone invest into teams from these countries? Brazil on the other side has a big CS community. Just look at the streaming-numbers, as soon as FalleN starts streaming he gets 1500 viewers. And still: Why not inviting teams like Astana Dragons, n!faculty, Navi, Lemondogs and CPH/WW (depending on which win the Danish qualifier)?

i don't know where are Algerian & Pakistan esports are gettin' that money/sponsorship from. As for Brazilians, i've just told my opinion from reading FalleN's complaining's about Brazilian GO scene. As for the Indian team receiving an invite over other top teams, it's probably something deeper, maybe marketing or something like that.

Sir, Just incase u dono.. Indian teams pay for their own travel.. easily 1000$ per head for tickets alone.... Just for one reason.. India is more dedicated to Counter-Strike than any other country in the world, we dont get sponsors, we dont get events.. but ppl still play ! I dono how ATE wil perform (but they are 3x stronger than their old 1.6 line up as they have some saucers in this team)....If u ask me that do they deserve the slot? fuck yes.. way better than quitters from al the countries u mentioned.. why did ur ppl leave when they know they cant make money from it anymore... these guys always put their money to play, cuz they played for passion, these guys never got paid for playing, not even once.

"So what happens if a team wins the Algerian or Pakistani qualifier but can't afford to travel to Europe? Are there even teams with enough income in these countries?" it depends what organizer's of these tournaments decides. For example, they can guarantee both spot and travel cost for the winner of qualifier, or just a spot in the main tournament.

They've attended plenty of tournaments in 1.6, never achieved anything, never beaten a real team. Why the hell don't they have a Swedish qualfier for example? Your argument about "a world cup" is bullshit, not everyone gets equal chances to qualify and the tournament is in no way limited by 1 team per country. WCG is the real world cup (the equivalent of world cups in other sports), ESWC carries the name

They have to be good enough to get exposed regularly. They cannot play against decent teams online, because of ping issues, so they cannot improve much. Throwing them to the wolves at ESWC is not gonna do much for them. They'll probably get eaten alive against most of the teams. If they were to improve they'd need to attend some tournaments regularly

For last two invites I expect maybe a Chinese team (Tyloo?) or a Brazilian team (Progaming-TD?) or Australian team (VoxEminor?). All other European teams will probably have to fight it out in a qualifier, though I would add two spots to the EU qualifer and take one away from France. All in all it seems it will be the first truly international cs:go tournament. Hopefully very interesting too.

I believe in Algeria , we have some very skilled players & the best team in africa (viva Algeria) , but the reason why we don't show up a lot in the international scene is the lack of sponsors :\

#19 The team was NSD who stood 3rd in Asia e-sports cup along with 4 players and 1 sub. Now. during the year when they lost, 4 players of the team didnt have passports. So they were not able to attend the event. Only one player was present with 4 semi-pro players and this way they lost 16-5, 16-4 and whateva you say. Also, the same team(Pakistan) was invited in WCG 2007 and trashed and sent back to their homeland :)

I wouldnt type this if this was a 1.6 event and ATE got invited.. but this is CS:GO, they are really good at this.. its a mix of 1.6 and source team.. ! Im not saying they will own NIP, but they deserve the spot.. You guys will see that :)

@Shrikky please stop spreading rumours over the net. All 5 of them are 1.6 players RiTz - Formerly Ate 1.6 Astarr - Formerly FTW 1.6 IBRA or a C e - Formerly United5 1.6 MithilF - Formerly United5 1.6 Krissh - Formerly Perfect Average 1.6 All Mumbai Teams, none of them played source. And frankly I don't know why Jigar 'sMx' Mehta is missing.
