ESEA S15 with over $90,000 in prizes

With ESEA Invite Season 14 Global Finals set to begin on Friday, ESEA has wasted no time in announcing an even larger fifteenth season featuring over $90,000 in prizes.

For the most part ESEA will be continuing as with their old plans as the same divisions will remain for CS:GO with a similar amount of money, although Team Fortress 2 gets two new divisions.

This means ESEA will continue with its global league into a third consecutive season, with the finals expected to take place later in the year when the price of travel will be lower than in the summer season.

ESEA trucking onto its fifteenth season

For Europe that means the continued support for both Open and Intermediate divisions of CS:GO, as well as the global Invite division, despite teams pulling out of season 14's finals.

Registration is also now open here for ESEA Season 15 and will remain so for over a month. Deadline is set for Tuesday, September 17th at 07:00 . The season is scheduled to start on Sunday, September 22nd.

Let's hope they'll change their mind and let VG, LDLC and the other qualified who couldn't come because of the price participate this one.

ESEA will still run an Open division in NA for 1.6 and CS:S in NA, a main-open division for TF2 and CS:GO in NA and a intermediate-open division and now a TF2 Open division in Europe as well as the Global CS:GO league.

Looking good, hopefully more eu teams next year will have the funds to go! I would start saving for this lan all year round, since it's the biggest go tourney at the mo and I think teams or orgs should do the same, we need more eu teams there and south american teams.

Sorry for the lengthy post in advance. I don't agree with the prize breakdown of the divisions. In my opinion, last place in Invite should be more than first place in any lower division. Looking at this strictly from a NA perspective, there's only a couple of teams that are sponsored and can even attend international events. So the rest of the teams in Invite (most of which disband over the season) are basically just playing in that division because they're better than the teams in the lower divisions and there's a slight chance to attend the LAN and win some money. I feel like very few teams nowadays play for the pride, satisfaction, and recognition of being a top team like back in the day, but instead focus on the money aspect. That being said, if I'm an invite team that isn't one of the two with decent sponsors, and I'm looking at the prize breakdown, I'm questioning why I should play in Invite and not a lower division. In Invite, I need to finish in the top 4 in NA to attend the LAN, which I have to pay travel etc to attend, to win at least $1,000 (considering European teams attend, you're realistically looking at 5th-8th place). Or I could just play in Main division with less skilled competition, online playoffs so I'm not spending money to attend the LAN, and 1st place is $1,800..2nd place is $1,200. Hell, 1st for Intermediate is $1,200 and 1st for Open is only $100 less than 7th-8th for Invite. If you're good enough to be in the top 4 in invite, then you should easily be able to win the other divisions. And if you don't expect to be a top 4 team in Invite, why bother playing in that division when you're not guaranteed any money and you have a better chance to win some in other divisions. I just don't see the incentive of playing in Invite the way the prize breakdown is currently. Granted, you're playing against more skilled opponents in Invite, but there are so few really good teams it isn't like you won't be able to practice against them because you're a Main team. It seems you risk losing money by playing in Invite than staying in Main. But again, this is just my opinion and looking at the money aspect of it. TL;DR - I think the prize breakdown sucks and last place for Invite should be more than 1st place in the lower divisions, otherwise there's no real incentive to play in the Invite division.
