fnatic to Mad Catz over WW

fnatic have defeated Western Wolves 2-0 (31-28 de_inferno_se, 16-5 de_train_se) and will travel to Cologne for the grand final of Mad Catz Invitational.

The Swedes had a flying start on the supposedly harder terrorist side of de_inferno_se, as they racked up a total of eleven rounds, led by strong offensive AWPing by Jesper "jw" Wecksell.

Western Wolves matched their efforts after switching sides, and although fnatic were ahead the whole time, it was thanks to Robin "flusha" Ronnquist they made it into overtime.

The two sides would take a whopping five overtimes to determine who is the better team of the two on de_inferno_se, as they continuously matched the effort of each other.

JW earned the nickname JWP from FACEIT's casting team

Ultimately it was fnatic, whose leader Andreas "MODDII" Fridh chimed in with some important multi kill rounds in overtime, who were able to close out the map with a 31-28 score.

Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen's side went up 3-0 as terrorists on de_train_se after a pistol round win after map change, but then quickly faced a brick wall in the form of fnatic's defense.

The team donning black and orange completely shut down Western Wolves, who went on to lose twelve straight rounds as terrorists. After losing pistol in the second half, it was only a matter of time before fnatic won, which they did at 16-5.

The score suggest that they got owned but really all the rounds were close and WW pulled a lot of VG style rounds where they lost rounds when they were up in numbers.

silly hltv, it wasn't jw who earned the nickname "JWP", it was the AWP itself -- they renamed the "a double-u p" to the "jay double-u p" because jw was just2stronk with it.

I think any rational person would agree that, given the ex-eplison player's performance at DH, fnatic has a reasonable chance against VG on lan, assuming VG beats CPW.

I disagree, fnatic lost to a tired vg, just back from a holiday, in two maps, vg in form is even stronger, and even stronger still on lan, if they are paired against cph, then I think it will be a very close game.

Listen here "idiot." This match is nearly inconsequential in terms of carn picking the right team or not, which was the subject of much debate during the last (and previous) podcasts. He needs a team with stability and longevity; a single online match dictates nothing with this regard. I'm speaking objectively. Because I disagree with thorin and I do think he chose the right team. We won't really know if he made the best choice until much further down the road.

Because an online win and a small tournament dictates nothing in terms of the stability and longevity of a team... how is this not a clear point to you is what I have no idea about.

How you fail to realize my point as well is also something I have no idea either. I understand your point, in the long run this tournament will not dictate a teams success, but you are downplaying the importance small wins (online or on lan) have on a team in CSGO. This isn't LoL, teams do not have many opportunities to win "big" prize money (especially with NiP and VG in the mix). If you were to ask WW and Fnatic if this win was important you would get a different answer than you expect. Trust me, teams do not fight through 5 OTs if they find the match 'pointless'. A tournament with a decent prize pool with no NiP = good opportunity, online or not. This is even failing to mention that this online match is for one of two spots for a LAN final. The fact of the matter is SO FAR Fnatic have shown more success as a lineup (in their short history as a 5 together), WW so far have show no stability in terms of lineup and results since early this year(swapping Nille in and out back in then out again) and no results with Inzta. Fnatic has shown that they can compete with the best in the world on LAN (DreamHack) and now online.

it looks like we are heading towards a skandinavian domination on CS again: nip, fnatic, ww, cph, lemondogs, and nfaculty are stronger than most of the other top teams.. im afraid that's gonna be boring for the other countries. Only VG and AD will maybe able to compete with them

Sounds logical. Was the complete opposite for DK. Only real team we had in 1.6 was fnatic, for waht I know. Don't blame me, I am source. :D So, most went to source, cause we had a bigger community and more top teams in that game. Just like you in Swe, just the other game around.

I watched the one versus astana dragons untill the HLTV locked up and died. I was spectating moddii all the time just because I thought ''Oh well, I'm a 1.6 player and I do well at CSGO, so I guess he should do the same.'' guess what? he didn't, he was playing horribly, he might've been a key player from another perspective but he failed a lot of easy situations so I really hope he's doing something except for fragging because that's obviously a role he isn't fit for.

Devilwalk is the perfect support player. almost all his frags where crucial. he won them minimum 2 rounds on train that would have resulted in eco`s afterwards.
