MSI Beat it! with $100,000 announced

A collaboration between MSI and Fnatic has spawned a new global tournament, MSI Beat it! 2013, which will see $100,000 handed out through various competitions, ending up with LAN Finals in Shanghai, China on November 22-23rd.

Seven teams will be found through six qualifiers on three continents in a process that will lead up to the LAN Finals in Shanghai, China on November 22-23rd.

The overall money handed out by MSI will amount to $100,000, which will be split to $22,000 for the main event, $39,500 for the qualifiers and $38,500 as travel support for the teams.

Prize distribution for the main event:

1. $10,000 + 5x MSI GE70 laptop
2. $7,000
3. $5,000

As reigning MSI Beat it! champions from DH Summer 2011, and due to being the hosts, fnatic have a direct berth for the LAN Finals in China. 7 teams that will join them will fight for their spot through the six qualifiers all around the world:

Here is a general schedule for the qualifiers:

United States – September
Middle Eeast – September
Korea/Japan/Taiwan – September
China – September-October
South East Asia – August-October
Europe – August-TBD

Further info at the moment is only available on the European qualifier, which will essentially be Fnatic FragOut League Season 3 with two spots leading to China. It will have a $5,000 prize purse and will contain 12 teams, ten of which will be directly invited, while the remaining two slots will be up for grabs through additional qualifiers that will start on August 20th.

The list of teams for FFO Season 3, also called Beat it! Main EU Qualifier, contains the following for now, with two invites still remaining to be sent out:

Sweden fnatic Sweden NiP
France VeryGames Ukraine Astana Dragons
Ukraine Natus Vincere Sweden Lemondogs
Poland ESC Gaming Denmark CPH Wolves
Europe TBD  Europe TBD
Europe Qualifier #1
Europe Qualifier #2

There will be four open qualifiers through which all European teams will be able to clinch one of the final two slots, seeing winners of each qualifier facing off in a Shootout - a pair of best-of-three matches.

Here are the dates of the four Open qualifiers:

August 20th – MSI Beat it! Open EU Qualifier #1 – Sign up now
August 21st – MSI Beat it! Open EU Qualifier #2
August 22nd – MSI Beat it! Open EU Qualifier #3
August 23rd – MSI Beat it! Open EU Qualifier #4
August 24th – MSI Beat it! Open EU Shootout

Fnatic's CGO, Patrik "cArn" Sättermon, is one of the leading people on this project and he issued the following statement on Fnatic.com:

"It's with great excitement that we are today ready to tell the world about MSI Beat it! 2013 - a $100,000 CS:GO tournament with the goal to spread the passion of eSports globally.

From next week we will open up to the door for thousands of gamers from Europe, North America, Middle East and Asia and invite them to compete in this prestigious tournament which will have its final in Shanghai later this year.

Before the November finals we will provide weekly Counter-Strike action featuring the very best teams and players from around the world. MSI Beat it will also put the eSports fans in focus by offering great coverage and broadcasting by some of the best casters in the world, such as Anders, Lurppis, Knochen, and many more.

I would like to send my biggest thanks to MSI for their continuous support of eSports, and in the MSI spirit: “Top gamer, Top choice” we have the ambition to make MSI Beat it 2013 the best Counter-Strike happening for everyone involved."

Look at the current state of the scene. With NiP being a 80% guarantee for the money that is up for grabs for the #1 finish, the majority of the money going into global qualifiers and travelling expenses is the perfect move for GO right now. Great event. fnatic is truly one of the best things to ever happen to CS. Even though I'd like to have seen South American qualifiers. I really hope this major tournament leads to teams practising their asses off. Why no Western Wolves invite but Na´Vi and ESC? That's somehwat suspicious, isn't it?

Had a feeling. So these invites are something to go by and mean that the poles will complete their roster and not change organisations and Na´Vi we will be seeing GuardiaN in since there's no VP.

It seems low but the cost of travel is insanely high, the teams are essentially getting a free trip many tournaments are shying away from paying for the trips these days. It seems low but when the teams pay for their own trips that would in theory come out of the potential winnings anyway. So its actually a pretty reasonable amount. Each qualified team will also be compensated for winning the qualifiers. Imo this is huge.

As far as i see, teams, which qualify to lan finals, won't need to pay travel costs, which is a big plus, considering a fact that the main event will be played in China.

fnatic has a spot at the main event no matter what, it's their event. They will still play FFO3 for the prize money, but if they win it or come second the next team in line gets the spot.

Can someone please explain how Astana Dragons get an invite to this? I mean, I know they've got the well-known amazing players, but... they're a brand new team with no history. Is it just because they have funding? Maybe it's just a stupid question... But... In my opinion, they should have to attend the qualifiers.

Then you should complain about ESC and Na'Vi being invited too, they haven't even announced a line-up! In my opinion every one of those teams deserves a spot just because they proved their worth in previous tournaments, even though all with different line-ups than they use now.

cuz travel is to expensive especially for EU teams. So i think paying trip is a very good idea and all teams which will qualify, can go to the main tournament. PS.JUST watch ESEA, 20 000 for the first place but travel to expensive.

Actually what they did is insane. 40k for the qualifiers, most of the teams will fight their asses off just to be able to go to the LAN, the expenses are paid so they will have no reason not to go and show us big matches. I think it might be one of the hugest LAN in go as from now because of this simple move by fnatic & msi. I don't know about the timing tho, but I hope it'll come out huge !

10,000 for the winner. 22,000 is split for 1,2 and 3 place. So what u're trying to tell me hoholcoholic? Btw prize is so poor.

Even if it hurts the prize pot that travel help is indeed a nice addition for the teams to be able to attend.

Still, the prize money for main event could be higher. It could simply be done by cutting some cash from qualifiers.

you are shittard or what? who need 100 k tournament if travel will cost much higher than all prize pool and we will have ESEA 14 when only NIP go to PLAN finals With 40 k for travel all teams who will qualify for the main event, can easily go to LAN finals cuz they can dont care about travel expensives
