ESL returns to the UK

The Electronic Sports League has returned to the United Kingdom with a CS:GO tournament that will hand out SteelSeries hardware.

After a period in which the UK section was largely overlooked, the ESL has decided to bet strongly on this region, and until the end of the year there will be several tournaments being held on multiple platforms with a view to boosting the UK's competitive scene.

It is still unclear whether an EPS season is on the horizon, but HLTV.org knows that the ESL has big plans for the UK when it comes to CS:GO.

To celebrate the ESL's return to the UK, there will be an open online CS:GO tournament, called the A-Series Challenge, kicking off on August 26th, with SteelSeries prizes up for grabs.

The prize distribution for this tournament is the following:

1. 5x SteelSeries Kana
2. SteelSeries Headset Bundle
3. SteelSeries QCK Bundle

To sign up for the Open A-Series Challenge, head over to the ESL's website.

afaik ESL is a sort of franchise for each country. Other countries just lack the people with interest and initiative.

Which 10 countries? The current skill level in the UK is easily around the same as the German scene, and absolutely miles ahead of the Polish and Spanish ones. I can only think of three countries who have better scenes that the ESL doesn't really do much with (Denmark, Sweden, America) and for various reasons these countries will never get anything anyways.

France you have a point. I'm really surprised that ESl actually doesn't have anything with France. But finland isn't. While it's scene is OK, the number of teams and overall skill level isn't as high as the UK scene (The Finish have the same 'too cool for school' issue we have but even worse). They have 1 team that might be able to do some damage internationally. And even then that's still yet to be seen. There seems to be about 10 odd permanent serious teams. Not really enough to make a league around.

If you mean Australia, ESL Australia don't give a stuff about anything but League of Legends and even then they don't really do much for it.

That's because the general layout of UK CS is a bit shit currently. There is a really good plan in place where we can look to help the long term and not just the short term and develop and nurture UK CS back to where it should be.

Hey Everyone! We're really exciting to start working alongside the CS:GO community, and the launch of this A-Series is just the first step on a long journey. We recognise that the prizes won't be overly attractive to most, but the league offers teams a casual environment in which to participate, and is targeted, as the name suggests, at those who normally don't get the chance to win a prized competition. Although I am not in the position to unveil further plans, the A-Series is going to be a key part of our future plans, and this first edition will act as a test season to gauge activity, interest and how user friendly the current system is. If any of you have any questions feel free to send me an email over to pm [at] esl [dot] eu. Thanks all, and enjoy the competition!

would be really cool if we had some kind of semi pro series (like the eps but without the top1-3 of the country) in every country and the top 2 of those amateur series go head to head for the european amateur throne? i know we had smth like the amateur series already so why not get a championsleague aswell
