HLTV.org Employee Of The Year
As sand through the hour glass, so are the days of HLTV.org. An entire year has passed and luckily HLTV.org came out much stronger. One guy did a bit more effort.
With almost a unanimous vote (I voted for myself) Marc Winther, or Nix0n as most of you know him, took the prestigious title as MVP for HLTV.org in the year of 2007. He has spent countless hours on HLTV.org in 2007 and traveled the world in order to please HLTV.org and you – our precious users.

So... HLTV.org employee of the year. Does that title mean anything to you besides the diploma and the money coming along with it?
Obviously it means a great deal to get the credit for the work you delivered in the past year. Being in charge of that our users can watch these big matches from events around the globe, means a lot to me. If you ask me… eSport would not be what it is today without the people out there providing the media to the fans and the viewers. It’s a dirty work; it takes soul, passion and the will to do it
Soul, passion and the will to do it... The eSport scene isn't overwhelmed with these 3 things. Why do you think that is?
I could take myself as an example. You start out doing something for fun, from time to time it gets boring and you feel like quitting. It’s really not a job; it’s just an interest than take up you time. But you make a difference even though you do not feel it. Then at a later point it might start consuming a lot more time than it used to, but you still do it by the will inside of you. The job in most cases will always be as volunteer and you will really not gain anything from it. Being a volunteer has stopped and will still stop many from pulling strings in eSport. This is definitely one of the right persons to conquer this title. In my eyes he deserves this to the fullest. A great friend of mine when we are traveling the world around, a super coworker when we are hosting events and a really party animal. He does his job whenever hes reachable. HLTV wise I'm sure Marc is a great colleague too, active whenever the leagues and tournaments need him. Respect dude.
Guddo – Manager mTwLet’s use the time machine (pantent pending HLTV.org) and go back to the day you joined HLTV.org. How did that come in place?
I had for many years been playing Counter-Strike with friends. When I started high school, I remember watching WCG 2003 finals from Korea where the Danish team9 took home third place. Then I discovered that one of the guys I went to elementary school with (Naz) was actually working with this HLTV stuff. I quickly got into it while going to several LANs with him.
Some day in 2004 I got pulled in and here I am today.
What has been the greatest personal moment for you in HLTV.org?
HLTV.org sure has brought me a lot of great moments and a bunch of fun. But I think the greatest moment for me personal would be 2007. I really cannot point out a specific moment, it’s simply impossible. It’s been a joy every day, so far.Marc is the kinda person that can make anyone look lazy, even Spand and Nomad. Oh, just joking, they look lazy no matter what. Anyway, I've known this Mr. Winther for a couple of years and he is always everywhere. Name an event and he is there, give him something to fix and he will do it. Even more he is a fine young man, although he still doesn't know how to drink properly. Oh, did I mention his
sister was smoking hot? Just ask him for her number, he loves it!
Phil - Global Content ManagerAnd the worst?
Blowing up things from time to time, tend to piss off a special someone. But the worst moment would either be in the shgOpen prelude we did back in January 2007. In the final I somehow forgot that they played best of three maps, a lot of people got really pissed when the HLTV all of a sudden switch to a random match.
Another could be going all the way to ESWC 2007 finals, ending up being really sick when I was needed.
Which countries have you visited this year on behalf of HLTV.org?
2007 turned out to be a really amazing traveling year for me. I had to opportunity to visit a fine line of international events of behalf of my profession. It’s really nice to have your work appreciated, and my traveling in 2007 would not have been possible if I had not been with HLTV.org.
I went to France, Germany. Spain, Sweden and USA. Including a bunch of events in Denmark. I think I have attended approximately 16 events. What is your personal relationship with the rest of the HLTV.org team?
Oh we are like a family! We all have different opinions, views on things and being different human beings. I have gotten the opportunity to meet some of these fellows in real life. Many people only talk to each other on the internet, and will never get the chance to meet the person. But I must say it’s a great thing to final meet them once you do.
Had a lot of fun meeting those people I have only been chatting with online. From time to time I tend to have a different view on how things are suppose to be done, while other have their own, but in the end we are all best friends.
Nix0n is a testament to that if you put your mind to something, the sky is the limit. Rising from a nobody to top dog in HLTV.org in a few months, now travelling most of the world, his drive and motivation is a guide for the rest of us.
Nomad - HLTV.org CTOYou have been in HLTV.org for many years now. What have you learned from this experience that you couldn’t learn anywhere else?
Obviously a lot about eSports and how to make a difference.
Also being in charge of a great series of things, that most would not have the opportunity in that age.
Give a shout out to our users!
With the young userbase we have in eSport, it's really hard to say anything without stepping on someones toes. Nah, joke aside. I love our users, without them a important factor in eSport would be missing.
Once again a huge congratulations to Nix0n. I hope he can inspire other people to team up with HLTV.org and make 2008 an even better year for us.
Happy new year!
