VeryGames defeat NiP 2-0

For the first time ever on LAN, VeryGames have defeated NiP with a 2-0 score (16-14 on de_inferno_se, 16-6 on de_mirage_ce) in SLTV StarSeries VII upper-semi-final.

After a great opening match between Astana Dragons and fnatic earlier today, NiP and VeryGames met in the second upper bracket semi-final of SLTV StarSeries VII.

Starting on their map selection de_inferno_se, NiP opened up well on the CT side with three kills from Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson.

VeryGames were about to lose the first buy round too, but Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom and Richard "shox" Papillon clinched a 2-on-4 situation which saw Benrlitom win a 1-on-1 against Johansson.

NBK's 6 entry kills on de_inferno_se were crucial

The Swede made up for it right away though, taking out 4 opponents in the next round and resetting VG's economy.

NiP seemed stronger in the early rounds, which was only backed up by an amazing spray quad-kill by Richard "Xizt" Landström in a 3-on-5 situation for 6-2.

Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's patient 1vs1 against Benrlitom in the B bombsite extended the lead to 7-2, and before long the Swedes were flying high with a 10-2 lead.

Nathan "NBK" Schmitt then stepped up in the next couple of rounds, getting two triple kill actions before Benrlitom added another in the last round, which put the score at 10-5.

Despite the fresh breath by the French, NiP set them back at the beginning of the second half, winning another pistol and first buy for a 14-5 lead.

However, the French had saved three rifles from the previous round, and Schmitt once again scored three kills to get VG back in the game.

Richard "shox" Papillon had an excellent clutch in a 2-on-4 situation two rounds later in the B bombsite, including winning a very important 1vs2 to put the score at 14-8.

VeryGames changed gears and attacked NiP in the round after that, which caught the Swedes off guard, and so did Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux's AWPing in the next few rounds.

ScreaM topped the scoreboard with 52 kills total

When the score stood at 14-12, Benrlitom denied entry into the B bombsite with three entry kills, and the French-Belgian squad stopped a promising B-split a round later to equalize the score at 14-14.

With NiP lost for solutions at this point, VG closed them off in the last two rounds as well, to complete an amazing 11-round comeback and get the 1-0 lead in this series.

Moving on to their map pick de_mirage_ce, Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' squad dropped another pistol round and fell back 0-4 as CTs.

During a save in the fifth round, Benrlitom's amazing aim once again proved crucial as he scored three P250 kills in the A bombsite to catch the Swedes on the wrong foot and make the score 4-1.

Even though NiP retaliated right away, that sparked VG's great play and they went on to lock down both bomsites and win the half 9-6.

Ex6TenZ led his team to their first LAN victory over NiP

They continued well and finally won a pistol round, which set them up for a solid lead. After NiP's third round surprise buy didn't work, they saved three rifles and went into an all-important 19th round with a lot at stake.

However, Benrlitom was just too much to take this evening, and he won a 1-on-1 against Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund to put his team up 13-6 and force NiP to eco.

The last two chances also fell through, as Dubourdeaux first opened up with 3 AWP kills, and then Benrlitom sealed the deal with 4 kills for 16-6.

VeryGames have thus moved on to the upper final of SLTV StarSeries VII where they will meet Astana Dragons on Saturday at 10:00 , while NiP will play against fnatic for their tournament life on Friday around 20:00 .
