ESWC group draw

The group draw for the ESWC world finals has been made as the 16 contestants have been drawn into four groups of four teams.

In order to make the draw as fair as possible, the 16 teams were placed into four different seeding pots according to their results in recent competitions.

Ninjas in Pyjamas, last year's champion, will battle Frost Gaming, fm-eSports TOXiC and AGENT.no, whereas Astana Dragons have been placed in the same group as fnatic, ALTERNATE and ATE Gaming.

The two places that are still up for grabs will go to the finalists of the French qualifier, which will be played on October 30th.

The top two sides of each group will automatically progress to the playoffs, which will use a best-of-three system and ESWC's controversial overtime rules.

Below you can find the seeding distribution and the groups:

Top seed: NiP, Astana Dragons, France #1, compLexity
High seed: Fnatic, France #2, Frost Gaming, CPH Wolves
Medium seed: K1ck, fm!esports, LGB eSports, ALTERNATE

Yeah, group D seems to be the weaker/easier one. Funny how the french teams would actually benefit from being #2 (and thereby ending up in group D) instead of being #1 (and then having to fight CPH Wolves for first place)

High seed should have atleast k1ck instead of Frost and maybe even LGB over fnatic but its ok with fnatic in it aswell.. so A group should go trough K1CK & NiP but in this case I'll say it like this: A: NiP > fm! = Frost = AGENT, B: F#1 > K1CK = CPH > C3, C: AD > fnatic > ALTERNATE > ATE, D: LGB = F#2 > coL > ETERNiTY if someone is confused by this and wants the traditional one: A: NiP & fm!/AGENT B: F#1(if VG or wGG, incase WARMAKER or Mystik somehow end up on this spot they will drop out on groups) & K1CK/CPH C: AD & fnatic D: LGB & F#2(if its WARMAKER.. coL takes the spot) sadly both US teams knocked out in groups.
