VeryGames to grand final over US

VeryGames have advanced to their third consecutive RC EMS One grand final after a  2-0 (16-4 de_nuke, 21-17 de_inferno) win over Universal Soldiers.

Universal Soldiers got a flying start to their semi-final as an upper rush won them the tough terrorist pistol round on de_nuke, but VeryGames quickly tied the game by winning a save round.

The favorites went on a seven round win streak, led by triples by Edouard "Smithzz" Dubourdeaux and Nathan "NBK" Schmitt, who scored triple kills each, with the former also winning a key one-on-two.

Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas' triple kill gave US their second round, but the Poles would lose four more, including a one-on-two by Richard "shox" Papillon with a single P2000 shot at the end, before they'd win another round.

At 2-11 it was Jarosław "pasha" Jarząbkowski whose triple helped US score a round, and two entry headshots by Wojtas gave his side some life as they ended the half at 4-11 with a two round streak.

Unfortunately for Filip "NEO" Kubski and company that streak wouldn't last much longer, as they went down 0-2 after a lost pistol round to start the considerably easier defensive side of the map.

NEO & co couldn't touch VG on the first map

Forced to buy on the third round, Universal Soldiers were shut down by Schmitt who put up a triple of his own, and after a save it was Papillon whose two AK47 headshots settled the first map at 16-4.

The Poles won the terrorist pistol round on de_inferno as well, as Kubski scored three Glock kills, followed up by two more round wins against the saving defenders to go up 3-0 this time around.

VeryGames shut down US for the next two rounds around the middle area, but a force buy put them back up by two at 4-2, while Kubski's double in a three-on-four extended their lead to 5-2.

The squad led by Kèvin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans then went on a five round streak with Dubourdeaux scoring eight kills on two save rounds, and Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom gobbling up three of his own in a different round.

Kubski's double gave US another round at 6-7, but VeryGames won the next round easily and the Dubourdeaux-Droolans duo combined for four kills on the final round to end the half at 9-6.

Dubourdeaux won a key one-on-one on the pistol round with low health to give VeryGames a 12-6 lead as they started their push for the 2-0 win in the second half.

VeryGames advance to RC EMS One grand final

Universal Soldiers refused to give up though as they managed to win seven straight rounds to go up 13-12, including a triple kill by Paweł "byali" Bieliński.

Doubles by Benrlitom and Droolans tied the game at thirteen, and a second round win by VeryGames gave them their fourteenth round and finally put them back ahead of US.

The Poles then secured map point with two straight stops of VeryGames' attack in the A site, but a desperate buy with just one rifle allowed Droolans to clutch a one-on-one and force overtime.

Overtime started with multikill rounds from Dubourdeaux, Schmitt and Benrlitom making it 3-0 for VG before Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski could reply with a double of his own.

Schmitt's double made it 4-1 in the first half, and although a Pogorzelski double gave US some life, VeryGames finished the series at 21-17 with two more round wins of their own.

nobody said VG didnt deserve a final or US to be there. They just had no the extra luck that helps you winning rounds. If you watched the match u knew it, just look at this thread, ppl from everywhere say the same thing, US played really good but were unlucky. And I am not saying that they deserved to win.

It would be unlucky, if it was one round. But they threw serveral crusial rounds away because of verygames clutching.

what u say here is not true, I mean the sentence. Why I cant be lucky 3 times in a row? I can. But ofc VG deserve the victory, they were better, I really like VG, but watching the game, US had many many rounds that could be won, but they lost. And that's because of the amazing performance from vg players. And there is the factor "luck", losing 3v1, 2v1, a little piece of luck, and t could turn in the other way. Thats what I mean. Never said US were better, because VG was.

US played really well, even in nuke, the result looks like they were terrible, but they just played vs amazing VG and most of the rounds was 1 guy alive from VG. US should be proud, I am sure they are, they played really well, they didnt bootcamped or anything, so they will be better and better. Also the first game vs NaVi was lost, but they were unlucky, it could go both ways, and went to navi. Later US just smashed them. Remember that VG until last days was the top1 team.

was A LOT of 1vs1 situations on both maps and VG most 90% of those, the score of nuke is kinda low and unlucky for US which lost a lot of 2vs1 3vs2 rounds, but also many mistakes from them like winning pistol round on T side nuke and then loosing 2nd round badly vs p250

Stop fucking saying it was a unlucky loss. Sure they were close games, but when you lose that many clutch situations, you really don't deserve to be in the final.

You completely forgot to mention SmithZz in this article. What about his sublime performance overcoming the likes of Neo, TaZ, Shox and ScreaM? You should really re-think the way you're doing coverage. It really hurts to see how much you're biased towards the competetion of f0rest and GeT_RiGhT. You could, easily, become the best journalist within CS although you're still lacking that 'thing' that Richard Lewis has (had). SmithZz shot just below 40 this match, no one were even close to him. E: You mentioned him once, hurray!

Completely agree. I thought people underestimated SmithZz's performance during the SLTV finals, where I thought he was outstanding. People mainly highlighted shoxie's and scream's great plays and we have seen plenty of statements saying these two were the reason why VG finally managed to win a tournament, but in my opinion SmithZz stepping up in the right moment of the match was as important. You don't see him play AWP that often anymore and he is really good with M4 - great AIM and really calm during all the clutch rounds that he won. In this match, we have seen it all again - SmithZz was on fire and he deserves more credit than that.

Thanks for your understanding! Now you mentioned him not using the AWP that much, and that's right and so forth, but something I noticed whilst watching the POV of the last [POD]Cast where cArn, Thooorin and lurppis all said that he's not really a "real AWPer" which isn't really true. He can compete with the best, outawp the most. He's always practising the long green and he's getting closer and closer to his former self.
